What other benefits have you found from taking MJ

After listening to Dr Tyna Moore on Diary of a CEO talk about how so many people are seeing their addictive behaviour change while on weight loss injections, it got me thinking of the ways it's also benefited me.

Apart from the obvious, no binging, no rubbish food and eating 2 or three times a day high protein clean food, I am longer online shopping, I used to spend a fortune on vinted and was constantly buying stuff online that I didn't need. I've deleted Vinted and have only bought stuff I've needed like shampoo etc.

I have also only bought one scratch card since May. I used to buy a lot and I have no desire to go no near them

I started MJ in May and in June I was left with so much money from my allocated amount of monthly spends. Usually midpoint I start dipping into the house account money as I've already spent it all.

As well as the above, I have decluttered so much stuff in my house. Got rid of everything I don't wear/use and I'm keeping my usually riot of a dressing room so tidy.

Dr Tyna Moore recommends microdosing MJ if you don't want to lose weight, I'm going to look into how I can do that after I get to target (8 lbs to go 😍) as I don't want the above bad habits to come back. Although she does also say, making positive changes while on the injections will allow you to make long lasting changes.

I urge everyone to listen to the episode on YouTube, and I'd love to hear any other positive experiences apart from weight loss.

Same, it has helped a lot with my impulse control issues regarding alcohol and spending. It’s like the thought/urge appears, then just…passes.

WaitingForMojo · 13/07/2024 17:44

It isn’t great for me. It makes me feel ill and exhausted. I’m tolerating it for the weight loss for now.

I found huge benefits from saxenda though. I felt brilliant on it, my adhd symptoms were much more manageable. Unfortunately the appetite suppressant effect didn’t last. I’m planning to take saxenda again in the future once I’ve used mounjaro to shift the weight.

ShiningLikeFireworks · 13/07/2024 17:50

I'm also ill and exhausted and, despite huge appetite suppression, not actually losing weight yet. But I have had zero interest in shopping and I am usually a major impulse buyer. I think it might be because I haven't got the energy, but it's something I suppose! Wish I had the decluttering urge too.

I'm a new starter - on Day 9 - W2D2 - and 7lbs down. On Day 2, I was already walking easier - I think the inflammation was already reducing and felt less pain. Days 2-6 were good, and stiffness remerged on D7, and has diminished again on D9. My arthritic hands have felt less painful too. I'm hoping it will help with my lipoedema.

Caffeineneedednow · 29/01/2025 13:00

My arthritis is gone. Since my teens I have always had a bad shoulder that is stiff and sore, far more so in the winter.
Started to get bad again in September, as always, but started MJ beginning of October and it is compltly healed. No pain at all.
Similarly my knees are better. I yried C25K in Feb and failed on week 2 due to knee pain. Started again a couple of weeks after starting MJ and flew through it. Working my way up to 10 km now.

My ADHD and depression are gone. For the first time in my life they are not just under co trol but gone. Its amazing, even my DH has commented on how much happier I am. This happened instantly so do t think it is associated with the weight loss.

I plan on staying on a low dose for the foreseeable future.

Elboob · 29/01/2025 13:20

@SeaStoat really good news about the arthritis changing. Have you cahnged anything IN your diet that may have caused this rather than the jab?

SeaStoat · 29/01/2025 20:17

No, @Elboob . My diet is consistent - just eating less without trying. It's carnivoreish.

DarkForces · 29/01/2025 20:26

I'm eating better, drinking less and feeling great. I'm having to shop more though as my clothes are hanging off me! Going second hand as I'm planning to reduce by a few sizes!

SeaStoat · 29/01/2025 20:29

I should have said there are two changes. I am drinking more - and take electrolytes.

Elboob · 29/01/2025 20:42

How long did it take to start feeling an effect? I started on Monday but no effects felt yet.
And is there a difference depending on where you inject?

Elboob · 29/01/2025 20:43

@DarkForces that's great news... Here's to more loss

SeaStoat · 29/01/2025 21:45

I started to feel different on day 2, @Elboob. People have different responses and some don't feel food suppression until the second month. I saw some research that the injection site makes little difference.

PermanentTemporary · 29/01/2025 21:53

Not really anything different except (slow) weight loss. Some gastric side effects that aren't nice but they settle down.

It has possibly had a very mild cooling effect on my sex drive but not enough to be definite about that. I'm certainly still having sex.

Titasaducksarse · 29/01/2025 22:16

I've not touched a drop of alcohol since I started and I had quite problematic drinking before.

Bellyblueboy · 29/01/2025 22:33

I am four months in.

May sound sad but it quite enjoyed the tiredness - it passed after the first month but I got very sleepy by about nine o clock and slept very, very deeply.

binge eating gone - bar one slip. moving up a dose as a result.

i have recently had to start buying new clothes because i am down from a size 16 to a size 10. But I am not impulse buying the way I used to.

I felt ill and exhausted too. But I also benefited from the impulse control- I was disinterested in booze and shopping as well. It's also really improved the condition of my skin - I have bad eczema.

I've stopped Mounjaro now and am spending waaay more on food and crap again. I have lost about 100 lbs though so im pleased

Elboob · 30/01/2025 01:00

@user243245346 that's an amazing loss

Itstartedinbarcelona · 30/01/2025 02:58

I’m jealous reading this. Like a couple of others I just feel tired, cold and ill. Losing weight slowly and still craving chocolate and crisps. Also still getting aches and pains.

46mumof6 · 30/01/2025 03:02

I haven't had a cigarette since 8th November, started MJ 2nd November. I was on 20 a day and have no cravings for a ciggie which is amazing.
My weight loss is slower that I wanted but I'm happy about the quitting smoking

MaintainingWithMJ · 30/01/2025 09:44

MJ has stopped my bruxism, sleep apnea and snoring; it's given me a much better sleep.

Improved acid reflux, heartburn, indigestion issues.

Improved IBS symptoms.

Improved blood sugar spikes and metabolism.

Consistent gradual weightloss (now maintaining), stopped food noise and snacking urges. MJ is a wonderful health aid for me.

TorroFerney · 30/01/2025 09:48

I read that it perhaps dulls your enjoyment of things , food and booze and cigarettes are helpful things not to find joy out of but say things like a beautiful sunny day, seeing a robin, a very lovely dog on a walk that you stroke that brings you that little lift, that little bit of joy does that go as well?

MaintainingWithMJ · 30/01/2025 09:52

It hasn't for me.

ShiftAMountain · 30/01/2025 09:54

Hope. I've found an abundance of hope for the future. Not just in how I feel/health but in other aspects of my life. It's changed the landscape of one from sadly coping/accepting life as an obese person to one in which my body will support whatever I want to do. It's changed my brain.

SilenceInside · 30/01/2025 09:54

No joy missing for me, it's not had any kind of dampening effect for me at all. Quite the opposite really. I feel massively more energised and optimistic. I was miserable and angry pretty constantly before I started due to my weight.

DarkForces · 30/01/2025 09:55

I don't recognise that at all. In fact losing the food noise has allowed me to focus more on the people and things that I love. Hard to enjoy a sunset when your body is screaming at you in hunger.
