Has anyone stopped talking it and seen an increase in their weight? I don't eat much as it is but the menopause has struck and I can't seem to lose anything. I was planning on trying it for a month to see what happens but didn't want my weight to go back up as soon as it stop.

itshappened · 12/08/2024 17:55

How much do you all have to lose? I have 3 stone and am definitely overweight, but it says my bmi is too low. Most people I read about on here have similar goals... are people lying about their weight to inflate their bmi and get the prescription?

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 12/08/2024 18:15

@itshappened Mounjaro is a treatment for obesity. If your BMI is below 30 or 27 with other weight related health issues, it cannot be prescribed for you. Most prescribers ask for a photo of you on the scales as well as a full body photo so they can see you meet the medical requirements.

If people are lying about their weight, they are unlikely to be getting the medication from licensed, regulated pharmacies so have no guarantee that what they are buying is safe.

itshappened · 12/08/2024 18:24

I'm just confused as to how so many people, not just celebrities, are seemingly taking it, and that includes those outside of the uk! It seemed to me that most do not have a bmi that high. I would not ever lie as I would be far too worried about the health consequences... but assumed my bmi would be comfortably in the right region for these drugs.

NewLifter · 13/08/2024 06:07

I'm not sure where you're seeing people with a BMI under 30 getting these drugs?

Perhaps you mean because lots of us started with a similar amount to lose than you?

My goal weight is BMI 27 as I know I can maintain that weight so yes I had three stone to lose.

Others are shorter in height therefore the difference between obese and normal weight can be less than three stone.

It's really not about lying.

bevelino · 13/08/2024 06:26

What happens when you reach your target weight. Do you stop taking Mounjaro or do you need to continue taking it? How do you manage your weight over the long term where people are seeing dramatic weight loss over a short period of time?

Hi, sounds like you have had a very positive jouney! I'm looking to start so think I'll choose 'Voy' too! It's so confusing knowing which company to go with. Would you mind if I used one of your discount codes please? Thank you 😊

@Devon3946 plenty of codes for numerous suppliers on the MNHQ codes thread.

I'm genuinely shocked at how many seemingly intelligent women think nothing of injecting this stuff. It's so dangerous. Really hope none of you end up with a life threatening blood clot for starters. All for vanity. And I said that as someone who has 3 stone to lose.

Slow and steady, eat sensibly. The weight will come off.

SilenceInside · 14/10/2024 12:54

@nosmartphone I'm always surprised how many people have ignorant opinions and feel free to share them!

These medications aren't any more or less dangerous than any other prescription medication. There's no risk of blood clots, at all. People aren't using them for vanity, you don't get prescribed them unless you are obese or overweight with significant weight related health conditions. People are using them to lose weight for health reasons.

When you take these injections, you eat healthily and the weight comes off. They don't melt the fat off you, you can't eat unhealthily and lose weight whilst on them. It involves hard work and consistency. The injections help you to do that for the length of time needed to create sustained weight loss.

Why do you have three stone to lose if it's that easy?

Me wanting to lose weight has got absolutely nothing to do with vanity. Its because I'm much more concerned with the huge number of negative side effects being 5 stone overweight brings than the tiny chance of a blood clot. Obesity itself doubles your chance of a blood clot for starters

Ibuprofen, the contraceptive pill, HRT and antidepressants also increase the chance of blood clots. Should we stop taking those too?

Weight loss medications have been approved and are prescribed for people with obesity not vanity.
The only vanity here is you thinking you know what works when you've a signifigant weight issue of your own.
