My husband knows but that's it. My 5mg turned up so that's great and in the fridge ready. Not sure about my extra dose nots not usually a full one is it so I've no idea what to do with it.

I have 2 x 2.5 left and whatever bonus dose (plus new 5mg in fridge)

Stick with the 2.5 and do it slow and steady I think, no need to rush, we've spent years putting on the weight so what's a few months

Trytowin20 · 11/06/2024 12:26

@norfolkbroadd good point. I wondered if to make my last 2.5 higher with the bonus dose so it's not so much of a leap to 5mg but I feel that's maybe better if you had already had a pen worth of 2.5.

I'm delighted so far and glad I took the plunge. I'd been looking at it for ages.

Afternoon all!

Im not a mum but I often find myself coming on mumsnet when I'm looking for advice on things (mums know best!) Aswell as reddit so I hope you don't mind me jumping in on here? I've found reading these posts alot more supportive than reddit!

I've just received my first 2.5mg dose of mounjaro. Never done anything like this before but have gained a good few stone the last few years thanks to my fibromyalgia and not being able to exercise due to pain. I've also developed some really unhealthy eating habits. Ive noticed my weight gain recently is really impacting my fibro along with my physical health with breathlessness, foot pain etc.

I'm also currently recovering from the 100 day cough which i got in april. Plus I've recently caught a cold and another chest infection on top so genuinely feeling abit rubbish at the moment!

How bad are the side effects from your first dose? I'm at work tomorrow but off on Thursday so trying to decide whether to hold off until tomorrow night to take my first dose incase I feel rubbish as I'm already feeling pretty crappy!

Also nervous about what supplements etc to take. I've got some multivitamins being delivered today along with some electrolytes and protein shake powder. I've also bought some fybogel sachets just incase I get the dreaded constipation.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated thankyou!

SW - 12st11
GW - 10st

Trytowin20 · 11/06/2024 14:29

@Jacubx I've not bought any extra stuff like supplements but I do mine Thursday evening/night as then I'm not in the office or working for a while.

No side effects at the moment (long may it continue)

Skybyrd · 11/06/2024 14:59

It's great to see everyone's progress and experiences!

I started MJ 2 and a half weeks ago and I'm delighted to have lost 6.7kg/14.5lbs already--more than I've ever lost at one go previously! I have decent appetite suppression with very few side effects, mainly feeling cold at times, some tiredness and mild constipation (I usually have IBS-D so having the opposite is a bit weird!).

I did have nausea and a bad 2 day headache last week after eating some crisps, but apart from that I've been careful to avoid fatty foods and eat moderate carbs with lots of veg and protein and 3+litre a day of water and herb teas. I already walk 10-20,000 steps most days, so I've only upped my activity a little bit, with a few stretches and some strength training.

I do still have some hunger and cravings but enough of the edge is taken off by MJ that relatively easy to avoid unhealthy foods and big portions, which is bloomin' amazing after 15 years of struggling with obesity and trying every diet out there.

I have my 5mg pen but I'll probably stay on the 2.5 dose, counting clicks, for as long as I'm still losing >0.5kg a week most weeks, as I feel this dose is working well for me. I also have ADHD and I'm slowly recovering from 5 years of chronic fatigue syndrome, so I'm a bit scared that the side effects of the higher doses will have a bad effect on my health.

Sorry, haven't RTFT but does everyone know it inteferes with contraception ? I wasn't told until after they took my money!

sabzino · 11/06/2024 15:48

@MarryMeTomHardy yes I think oral contraception

Trytowin20 · 11/06/2024 17:07

@MarryMeTomHardy yup, med express was quite clear and says to use extra barrier rather than relying on it

I'm not bothered but my period has come through which sucks normally I don't get spotting etc on the mini pill so it's deffo the mj affecting it

Tirzepatide · 11/06/2024 17:37

I waiting for my first delivery - order on Sat, approved on Sun, just waiting delivery info (estimate was Tue-Fri, but not Tue now and I doubt Wed). Thinking of injecting on Sat morning to make it easier to be consistent, maybe.

I'm really limiting who I'm going to tell too (in RL!) - just DH and a close friend (who is interested in doing it too, lives at the opposite end of the country and we have no mutual friends), maybe (young adult) DS though. I've found that is the best approach when trying to lose weight injectables or not.

Just trying to get my head around what supplements are a good idea (or not).

Lastchancefatty · 11/06/2024 18:38

I keep seeing codes for 50% off but they're not. It's £85. That's still pretty good but is only about twenty less than asda. Is voy better and worth the extra as I think asda is cheaper overall. Thanks all

Lastchancefatty · 11/06/2024 18:41

Sorry if it's been covered, what is counting clicks and how does it help?

Skybyrd · 11/06/2024 18:55

A full dose (of any strength MJ) is 60 clicks, so 30 is a half dose, 20 is 1/3 and so on. Therefore it's possible to take smaller and part doses using a higher strength pen. This means you can gradually (rather than suddenly)increase between lower and higher doses.

It also means you can remain on a lower dose using a higher strength pen. This is both cheaper and gives the option to increase the dose, if the lower dose suddenly stops being effective.

There is more info and a table of the exact clicks per dose somewhere on the main MJ thread.

Day 3 and I’ve finally got some appetite suppression. But I’ve also got a nasty virus so not sure if it’s that.

coffeandteav · 11/06/2024 20:01

Halfway through week 2 now.

I feel a bit hungry today.

I have found Voy very good and you get access to coaching sessions and an app which you don’t with other suppliers.

I have found the coaching really good and helpful.

Thank you for explaining this.

Day 3 of my first week. The sulphur burps were something else yesterday 😳. My son kept ok asking if I'd farted! Seem to have eased a bit today.

Feeling slightly nauseous but manageable. So strange the I can think of a food or look at photos and not start to crave it. I really wish my brain was like this without the need for injections!

Snozzlemaid · 12/06/2024 08:18

End of week 2 for me.
SW 18st 8
CW 17st 11

Lost 6lb in the first week and another 3lb this week.
Third 2.5 injection later today.
Pleased with the loss so far and not thinking about how far I have to go, trying to concentrate on small targets only at the moment.

HalebiHabibti · 12/06/2024 09:35

Day 1 (2.5mg) was yesterday for me. Felt ok, possibly fuller than usual but that could be my imagination! Woke up this morning with ketone breath so must have eaten less yesterday.

SW: 82.5kg
GW: 68kg

coffeandteav · 12/06/2024 10:12

I am struggling not to eat today. Horrible food is calling that hasn't in the last week.

Ahhhh I don't want it to ware off. Trying to be patient.

Batlady78 · 12/06/2024 11:49

Received my box from Medexpress yesterday so will do my first injection today. A little bit nervous!

SW 102kg
GW 80kg

I've lost 30kg four years ago but it's gone back on (plus interest), so I know the drill of healthy eating etc - just haven't been able to get in back in the mindset. I'm hoping this focusses my mind, and seeing the scales move downwards will be the best motivator.

CrystaltipsnoAlistair · 12/06/2024 12:01

Hi guys. Would love to join the chat. Been on MJ for 4 weeks and lost 19 lbs so far. As my starting weight was 21 stone and I have yo-yo dieted for 30 years I spent months deliberating before starting.
Jabs of Joy 🤩 !! Finally I know what the people who just “forget to eat” feel like. I never forgot to eat hence years of losing 70lbs and regaining 80 …then 50lbs then regain again. Am at peace with the food “noise” gone. For me was a food war in my head. Am planning a second 2.5 pen but worry that the food voices come back. Are most of you going straight to 5mg after first 2.5 pen ?

Good luck Batlady78.
It really does change how you feel about food and how you eat. Wish this had been available 30 years ago. Jag is painless.

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 12/06/2024 12:27

@CrystaltipsnoAlistair that's such great progress! I can totally relate to the food war and how amazing it is for it to go quiet.

I have got a 5mg being delivered today and plan to go straight onto it when I have finished my 2.5mg pen.
