Registry office wedding

Hiya, me and my partner are looking to get married at a registry office, just me, him and our 3 children plus 2 witnesses. Any advice on places to go, and would like to have a photographer. When I seem to look it seems to be the whole wedding package. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Just look on council websites, there’s at least one but sometimes a few per jurisdiction. The cost is minimal if you choose the small room

What do you mean places to go? Where do you live? Is there not a registry office there? You might need to narrow it down a bit for us. Search local registry offices and see which one looks prettiest near you

this gives you an idea of what each council will have on their website.

they will in addition have a list of other approved venues in their jurisdiction.

registry offices of note that I’ve personally been to weddings in include Oxford, Paignton (Devon) and Leicester, all in historic buildings. Note for the cheapest option it’s strictly the couple plus 2 witnesses, you’ll need a more upgraded package to have children there

Bath registry office is lovely. We went to a wedding there in a room overlooking the abbey then to a restaurant for dinner.

We just hired a photographer and arranged the flowers ourselves just buttonholes and a bouquet. Did most of the pictures back at my mum's house. A long time ago now though.

Why can't you simply get married in the Register Office in your home town? That's what usually happens.

We got married at Leatherhead Register Office ("The Mansion"), in Surrey, so reachable from London. Beautiful historic building, with lovely gardens for photos.

Some Register offices are soul-less blocks.

Note that you must give advance notice of your legal notice of intention to marry at the register office for the district where you currently live - before you can get married somewhere else.

I would pick somewhere which meets your requirements: convenient location, nice building, holiday area where you could have a honeymoon afterwards etc - whatever is important to you - and then book your date and get them to talk you through the process of doing the legalities back at home so you're ready to marry in your chosen location.

What about marrying in your favourite seaside town? Or have a hip city wedding? Or married in the town where you met / went to university?

we got married in Morden Park House, about 20 guests, small room, was beautiful

It was a lot cheaper back then though , I think it was £50 for a Saturday

We did our own flowers and buttonholes, the venue had flowers and was really very pretty and we didnt go for a photographer , Mum did the portraits and I gave everyone disposable cameras to take candid shots

We had a very relaxed informal day
