To wash hair night before, or on the day?

I am a bridesmaid for a wedding tomorrow and I never style my hair.

I've got a full head hair of highlights, it's naturally straight and gets greasy quick. It's straight as an arrow. Hair stylist will be doing my hair at 10am tomorrow morning and she asked for clean and blowdried hair.

I want it curled, half up, half down and wants the curls to stay!

What should I do!?

Wash and blow dry in the morning.

I would have thought night before is fine as I usually wash and blow dry my hair at night and then straighten in the morning. I thought some stylists preferred hair that is not too clean.

I have hair similar to yours and I washed it on the day of the wedding.

If you are having your hair up I would assume don't wash in the morning - I'd check with the stylist but freshly washed hair can be slippy

Night before for hair up. It’s more likely to stay up if it’s not freshly washed

I’ve got the exact same hair type, definitely on the morning and not night before in my opinion

TeenLifeMum · 26/05/2025 20:48

Hairdressers usually say that you wash the day before because perfectly clean, freshly washed hair is a nightmare to style.

I’m actually surprised by the number of people saying to wash on the morning. I’ve always been told that’s a big no no.

Wash first thing, mine is greasy after sleeping.

Catwoman8 · 26/05/2025 20:51

Night before if you have having it styled and curled in the morning. Do people really get that greasy hair overnight?

AliBaliBee1234 · 26/05/2025 20:52

Night before for wedding styling so it's not too soft and holds a style

I'm also surprised so many are saying wash in the morning.

I've been a bridesmaid many times and every time I was told wash the day before it's much harder to style when freshly washed.

My hair will be slightly greasy in morning. I'm wanting a curled, half up, half down style!

Thank you everyone!

My hair stylist said not to wash it on the day, but mine was all up for my wedding, so maybe it's different

(I actually did end up washing it on the day as my dad had made a big fry up on the day and I was really aware I smelt like sausages 😂😂 - hair was fine)

Aaaaaaanyway, congratulations and happy wedding eve to you! I hope you have a wonderful day

RatOfTheHighway · 26/05/2025 20:54

I think with fine greasy hair it will be even harder and more slippery to work with the next day, I know the advise is often the night before because freshly washed hair is too slippery to work with, but I don’t think that advice works with the small minority who’s hair gets visibly greasier hour upon hour.

Wash night before. Hair won't hold the style if freshly washed in the morning.

For both my wedding and when I've been a bridesmaid I was told by the stylist to wash it the night before.
