Voice recording up the aisle

Opinions on the growing trend of having a voice recording playing before the bride walks up the aisle? Personally I think it's cringe as hell and don't really see the point but would love to hear if anybody has seen it done in person.

An acquaintance's daughter can sing fairly well but not exceptionally well.
(I don't mean to be mean, just telling it like it is).
At her wedding, whilst her DH-to-be was waiting at the secular "altar", (non-church venue), the bride began walking up the aisle with her dad, singing to the groom with a cordless microphone.
The song was "I will always love you" and the bride sang in a kind of breathy, X Factor way - I can't think how else to describe it.
It should have been unique and romantic, but it went on for ages, the groom didn't know where to look, and it was just so cringy and embarrassing.

Oh dear! I'm so curious about this - did she do the whole song (did she go for the big note?!) and if she did, did she walk v slowly down the aisle to fit it all in?

Weirdly saw this on tik tok yesterday. It was the step kid to the groom. It was so cringe.

I just don't get it... the child would've been forced to say this script! And for what? To inform the groom why he's there? To make him cry? To put on social media for attention? I just genuinely don't see the point of it. Cute little script she said but I don't get it.

@mrstea301 Well, she sang a fair bit whilst standing still at the back with her dad, but we couldn't see her so wondered what was going on.
Then she sang whilst walking slowly up the "aisle", then sang the rest of the song once she reached the groom, so for quite a while she was facing him and finishing off the song.........and yes to the big note. That was when he didn't know where to look or what to do!

It's like a voice from heaven, creepy.

Thanks for sharing, it has brighter a dull Sunday

I think it's fine to not do everything the traditional way, even though I did everything the traditional way myself. Obviously people are free to mock it, but hopefully they'd do that privately and not be rude enough to do it openly at the wedding

I now want to divorce and remarry just so I can do this.

Please do this. I know it's a fair bit of inconvenience but think of the likes.

I know someone who sung herself down the aisle. It was prerecorded rather than with a microphone but it was "From This Moment" by Shania Twain.
