When do you take off your engagement ring?

Before receiving my engagement ring, I never wore rings. Therefore, I am unsure when I should be taking off the ring. At the moment I take it off for sleeping, washing dishes, cooking with raw meat, showering. I haven't been swimming since getting engaged, but would take it off for that too.

I also have to take it off for work sadly so cannot wear it as much as others will wear their rings.

I have a feeling I am probably being paranoid and taking it off more than necessary! Interested to hear your responses. Thanks!

A lot of people will wear their rings literally all the time. Never take them off at all.

I grew up with my mum taking her rings off all the time. She used to come home and immediately take off her watch and rings, putting the rings on the watch strap. If she was going out she would wear her engagement and eternity rings but just to work or just out and about she would wear her wedding ring only.

I am the same. I wear my ring as I wear other jewellery and take it off as soon as I get home from anywhere. If I have a couple of days WFH, or dossing about the weekend, I might not wear it for several days. I don’t wear it for exercise, cooking, cleaning, or gardening.

It doesn’t mean anything - I still love my ring and enjoy wearing it when I do.

never. I wear my engagement / eternity / wedding rings constantly. They are the only jewellery I own and the only ones I wear.

all removed when I was heavily pregnant. The little one is now almost 7 so they’ve been on my finger constantly for 7 years ish

I don’t, generally speaking. Making scones or something equally stodgy and sticky is basically the only exception as it would get all gunked up in the setting.

The last time I took mine off was on my wedding day 15 years ago so I could put my wedding ring under it.

Very rarely. It's white gold which apparently you should take off for baths/ showers etc? But generally I only take it off if I'll be doing something that could get it manky, like baking bread.
