"Sage green is very now so yes lots of stuff to coordinate"

Quite possibly, but I got married 15 years ago. Smile

Depends on the colouring of the bridesmaids and the location.

If the ceremony is to be outside green dresses would fade into the background. Think about the room - will the colour clash/complement the wallpaper, curtains ect of the ceremony room.

What colours suit the bride... she'll be in a lot of photos with the bridesmaids too.

I had three bridesmaids with very different colouring and in the end we went for a magenta dress. I wanted them to like and feel happy about watering the dress. Always hard! This worked really well outside for photos and complemented the reception venue colours so it was great.

I think a sage green column dress will be the same as the frilled peach dress in the 80’s and satin burgundy number in the 90’s. Not that’s it’s not nice but it’s just a bit fashionable right now.

FasciaDreams · 28/08/2023 22:38

Out of those 3? Lilac.
Can't comment on overall. I've never seen a BM dress that's particularly 'outstanding' (just as well). Even if different colours they're all the exact same shape for some reason.

I found it impossible to find something 'different' at a reasonable price for my upcoming autumn wedding so I gave up and got the standard. In burgundy, because it's easier to match bouquets etc and I'm lazy. but also IMO darker colours look good on everyone and my BM's look fabulous. We're all different ethnicities and colours.

But people say summer weddings should have pastel colours. So, there you go...

Depends on colouring, size, shape of the bridesmaids.
I like the idea of using different sweet pea colours (pink, lilac etc) and the same dress style.
I also like one colour but different dresses - though they can’t be too different (l think you have to be all the same length at least) or it does look a bit of a mess.
Or just pick one nice flattering dress for everyone - and don’t get strapless or backless if they need bras.

Various floral dresses is my favourite look

Big bridesmaids deep plum/aubergine and sage accessories , little bridesmaids sage green and deep plum/aubergines accessories.

I’m not a fan of pastel as it seems to wash people out. For a wedding I don’t like shades of red or funeral colours like black or navy. So, anything else. Coral and fuchsia were my favourites.

steppemum · 29/08/2023 10:59

personally I look dreadful in anything pastel, and anyone who isn't slim looks bigger in pastels. It all looks a bit washed out to me.
But each to their own.

UsingChangeofName · 29/08/2023 17:10

@ovulationleavesmetired to me that doesn't show me they are bridesmaids at all. If I saw a photo like that I would assume they were a group of guests (say, the university friends or the sports team the bride plays for).

I do think you ought to be able to register "that's the bridesmaid" if you see one, which suggests they need to either be the same material in different style or the same style in different colours at the least.

Just my opinion of course. Smile

I like sage or navy as the always loook classy and seem to suit most people's complexions

See, I think that looks a bit too 1970s living room

A bit heavy on the chintz

43ontherocksporfavor · 29/08/2023 17:18

From those 3 blush or sage. Hate lilac.
My fave is blush but depending on colouring( any red hair?) then sage would look lovely. I had young bridesmaids (under 10) and they had ivory (like me)handmade slub silk knee length dresses with a fine gold voile bow( was the 90s) because I really didn’t want to introduce another colour.

Ah yes, I was one of three bridesmaids. We all had the same dress: one in cornflower blue, one in mint green and the other in a dark rose. Looked great.

I agree, but then again you could mark the BM's out with accessories.
Not floral but I went to one wedding where the BM's wore what they already had, and bride spent the money on some lovely jewellery including headpiece, It was abundantly clear who the BM's were.

I wore a floral bridesmaid dress 31 years ago. I was 16 and he bride chose a pale pinkand pale blue dress,(my mum had warned me to just agree with whatever dress the bride wanted) I said I liked it but bride could tell by my face that I didn’t like it. She then chose the same dress in lilac and grey which was still floral but better.

eastiseastwestiswest · 30/08/2023 20:11

I love a mix of dresses too but I was recently at a wedding where they wore hot pink dresses from maids to measure and they looked stunning

Screamingabdabz · 30/08/2023 20:16

My niece had 5 bridesmaids and they all wore ‘nude’ but chose their own dresses - they were all brought together with matching bouquets and the groomsmen all wore nude pink ties and pocket squares. It was a summer wedding at a grand country house and it really worked. The adult bridesmaids were grateful and more than happy to get their own dresses.

MairzyDoats · 30/08/2023 20:28

I love both the blush and skylight of these dresses and I'd have both depending on the colouring of the bridesmaids. They'd look great together.

DrMarshaFieldstone · 30/08/2023 21:13

One of the very few things I would change about my wedding is the matching bridesmaid’s dresses. It is a ridiculous concept for adult women.

I have seen some howlers - hot fuchsia pink was particularly bad. Blush / pale pink is tricky as if it’s too pale the bride doesn’t stand out and it can look a bit naked on pale skin. Of your three sage is the safest for a range of colourings.
