To ask what shoes to get to match my wedding dress?

Hi everyone! I made a post about my wedding dress ages ago - I thought it was gonna need altering due to being pregnant - unfortunately this pregnancy ended in a MMC last week. We had stopped wedding planning for a while to concentrate on the pregnancy and now I've thrown myself into wedding stuff for distraction. This is my beautiful wedding dress - but what shoes? I do NOT want high heels. I'm thinking court shoes, but I dunno whether to get white/sparkly? I'd love suggestions! Our wedding is a small register office wedding then a small meal of around 20 people later on! So nothing big or fancy! Thank you ❤️

I'm sorry for your loss. 💐

As your shoes will be seen, you should go all out on them! I wore red shoes for my wedding - would you be up for some colour or just sparkle?

The first brand that jumped into my mind when I saw your gorgeous dress was Irregular Choice. Are they something you might consider?

Another option might be these from Rainbow Club - Bobbie

If you're looking for comfort, these look so good - Athena

Am I on the right track or completely wide of the mark?

@ILoveCookie these are all so pretty! Thank you so much! Im gonna check this website out after work!

@LookItsMeAgain oh wow, tbh I never thought of coloured shoes - but I may re consider this? Especially like you said you'll be able to see the shoes. I was gonna go plain white/silver sparkly. Was just looking at some court shoes tbh. I'll attach a pic of the style, but I'd say I like weird things too, my fiancé says I love ugly shoes and clothes 😂 these are so boring lol 😂

The only thing I would say is make sure they are comfortable. Wear them around the house for a few hours each day in the run up to your wedding so that you know you can walk in them, do stairs in them and so on. They absolutely have to be comfortable. I changed out of my red shoes on my wedding day into white trainers for the dancing so comfort is a big thing for my feet!

Have a wonderful wedding day, whenever it is.

LookItsMeAgain · 24/06/2023 13:37

The ones in your photos are very stylish.
Would they be comfortable on? If you have time to order them and try them on around the house to see what they are like on, then I'd do that.

midnights0 · 24/06/2023 13:37

@LookItsMeAgain good point, I hate uncomfortable shoes 😭 the wedding is in 110 days - not long at all, I need to get sorted!!

@LookItsMeAgain I'm deffo gonna order a few pairs and see what they're like :) otherwise it's impossible to know whether they suit me or the dress!

As your dress is quite detailed, I would do for simple satin.

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 27/07/2023 21:26

I’m so sorry for your loss x

Your dress is absolutely beautiful! I think the shoes need to be stunning as they’re on show, and if I were you I’d have a blue pair for your ‘something blue’

I hope you have a wonderful day! X

frazzled101 · 27/07/2023 21:29

I wore red shoes, red lipstick! My bridesmaid wore a navy dress, with the same red shoes.

nobodygoesdowninthejungle · 27/07/2023 22:47

I'm sorry for your loss.
I had a similar length dress and wore blue shoes to cover off the something blue. DH's tie was the same colour and so was the flower girl's sash on her dress. It meant we were mildly co-ordinated without being overly matchy.

cosmosforall · 29/07/2023 13:23

I am so sorry for you loss and I can't help on shoes although I would wear white converse!!

Your dress is amazing - can I ask who is the maker?

Xxxx

Fraaahnces · 29/07/2023 13:35

So, so sorry about your baby. Please be gentle on yourself @midnights0. Planning weddings is super-stressful too. Unsolicited advice here… When everything is choreographed down to the last five minutes, there are so many things that can go wrong. Please try and have a relaxed, organic wedding where you and your lovely DF enjoy yourselves and each other.
Like everyone above, I adore your dress and can’t imagine anything more perfect for you. I love the idea of the pumps above, but maybe with a rhinestone detail to make it look vintage-inspired like the dress. I used to play dress-ups in my grandmother’s wedding shoes. They were a pale aqua in the same shape as the pumps above (maybe the toe was square, but the heel was the same. I’m 51 so was a long time ago.) They had a round circle of rhinestones on the toe box. They were also her “something blue”.
I hope you have a lovely, lovely wedding that brings you and your DH to be some wonderful memories to help you heal.

MerryMarigold · 29/07/2023 13:40

I'd definitely go for statement shoes. Personally I'd wear some very cool trainers but possibly boots, something from Etsy maybe?

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 29/07/2023 13:45

I certainly wouldnt go for satin shoes.
I think they look clunky and unstylish, sorry.
For me it would be something light in either silver or nude colour. I really hate the look of “wedding shoes”, plus you will never wear them again, even if you dye them! Go for something glamorous that you would wear again.

Bloodyleaverspartybollocks · 29/07/2023 13:52

You look a bit alternative so I'd run with that. Wear something cool what suits your style

midnights0 · 29/07/2023 14:13

Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions, I forgot I even made this post! It's been 7 weeks since our MMC and me and DF are healing with eachother. I actually got a pair of shoes off vinted, they're just plain white court small heeled shoes kind of like 1950's like the dress so I love them, altho I did newrly buy a pair of irregular choice a few weeks ago! I decided on my plain ones in the end though due to money they was £7! Bargain.

@cosmosforall the dress is from the shop Wed2b, they're everywhere in the UK!

@Fraaahnces thank you so much, our wedding is pretty much done now - as it's so small it's not to much timings for sit down meals speeches etc, just family gather for a meal & drinks, just sorted out all the decor last week we've DIY it all! Thank you for your kind words

I had a similar length dress to you and I wore Rachel Simpson mimosa shoes in a colour that matched the theme.

They do a variety of flat and low heel shoes they don't do huge skyscraper type heels.

The website seems to have closed down but there are stockists everywhere and I'm sure Vinted will have some too!

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 01/08/2023 07:36

I'm also thinking you should wear the white Converse boots in your dress photos!!

Your style looks a lot edgier than "white court shoes". I'd wear statement shoes - I thought of Irregular Choice and Rainbow Club as soon as I saw your photos.

Cotswoldmama · 01/08/2023 07:41

I wore leopard print and I my friend wore bright blue for her something blue. I say wear what ever you love and find comfortable

Roselilly36 · 01/08/2023 08:09

Beautiful dress, I would go with a pair of plain fabric shoe, satin or silk, the dress has gorgeous detail busy shoes will probably be too much going on. Have a wonderful day.

Roselilly36 · 01/08/2023 08:11

X post, the shoes you have chosen sound perfect.
