Celebrant outfit ideas for a close friend’s woodland ceremony

Hello please help me! I’m overwhelmed with choices!

A close lifelong friend has asked me to be the celebrant at their woodland ceremony. It’s one of the absolute privileges of my life and I want to do a really good job of it.

I want to wear something really nice, which shows how seriously I take my role and how special it is, but it needs to be subtle and not distracting to the eye as I will be standing at the front with the bride.

With it being a woodland wedding I thought of taking a festival approach, and have been looking at ditsy dresses and jumpsuits. I like tea dresses too, the way the neck and bust are cut are very flattering to my frame. I’m a short size 12 and I like to draw attention to my top half with a closer fit, and a wider fit over bum and hips. Skater dresses are perfect for instance.

Have you seen anything that you think would be great for this, or something you’ve worn yourself in a prominent role in a wedding? Any advice on colour schemes and patterns, or any taboos I’m not aware of (besides don’t wear white or red!) is gratefully received!

many thanks x

How lovely! From what you’ve described I’d suggest Nobody’s Child? I love their dresses and they’re dressy without being formal or too structured

Thank you that’s a great heads up, looked at their stuff and it’s gorgeous!

Dresses from The Pretty Dress Company would really suit you shape. Scan through lots as some probably a bit low cut for that position but lots of others there.

I hate to be boring, but I'd think about photos etc in this case. You don't want something that's going to clash with the wedding (I think you're referring to a wedding?) Party, so ask your friend what they're wearing. Also, as you say, you don't want to be the main focus. Make sure it fits too, so you're not constantly pulling at it.

You absolutely can get changed once you've been celebrant, if you're looking gor something more interesting.

I used to work on weddings and photo shoots, so I maybe overthink this element.
