Anyone taken their baby/toddler to the registry office?

We're having a small (ish) wedding next week at the registry office, our 16 month is coming with us, he doesn't stay with anyone else.
I'm wondering how it will go, getting anxious about how he'll be and if he'll let us get on with it?

I went to a wedding 20 years ago where the bride and groom had a toddler and it was all fine - she sat on someone's knee and sang a bit and gabbled a bit and it was all fun and fine.

DD1 was 19 months when DH and I married.

She refused to be held by anyone other than me, and the entire ceremony (including the vows) was conducted with me holding her or her wrapped around my legs Grin

It doesn't seem so bad looking back now, but it was stressful at the time.

Worth noting that the wedding was abroad, and DD was overtired and out of sorts.

My youngest was 15 months at our wedding. He sat with FIL for half of the ceremony but came and joined us after a while. Not a slick ceremony but people were laughing and it was very cute.
My favourite wedding photo is him having a strop trying to grab the pen whilst we are signing the register and my elder DS in between us picking his nose!

Thank you for your replies.

He doesn't sit still for a minute, obviously expected for his age, so it'll either go two ways, I'll be picking him up the whole time because he's overwhelmed or he'll be running riot Grin
I'd think I'd prefer the latter so at least we can say our vows in peace Smile

Yep I also had my 20 month old there (small wedding, just immediate family) and as soon as me and DH walked in he just wanted to be held by me..

I held him the whole way through and then he was wanting breastfed whilst signing the book.

Like someone else said, it did feel a bit stressful at the time cause he was so clingy!! Couldn't put him down! But looking back it was lovely memory and i have some beautiful photos of us 3 during the ceremony...

I also think he was tired and hungry at the time too but I didn't pack snacks cause I was kinda preoccupied getting ready 😂

Dd1 was 18 months when we got married, I'm not even sure now where she was that day tbh. Did I have her? Dh? My best friend? Not a clue! We only had my bf and her partner there too so should remember.

Your guests will swoop in and try to help so please don't worry.

I’ll be in the same position. I guess you just have to accept what could happen and not let it stress you but just see it as a memory.

DD was a bit younger but snacks worked a treat. She sat on my mum's knee and was just chain fed snacks Grin It'll be lovely having your toddler there. I love looking back at the pics and having had her there for our special day.

Yes, four weeks at the marriage service, then we booked the registry office again at seven months for a bigger blessing. Was both lovely x
