This dress for a vow renewal?

Hello friends,

Been together 28 years... married 17.

We've got a vow renewal in December.. so excited but unsure what to wear?

Had a huge circus wedding last time with trumpets, bells and whistles. This time just us and family.

Is this dress ok?

Had a freaking great flouncy, wafting number last time so not sure.

After some of the responses I'm too scared to post a photo of me in it!

Suffice to say it does accentuate my good bits and flatters my not so good bits.

I think it’s hard to tell on a hanger. Do you have trusted friends who can offer a real life opinion if you don’t want to take a picture and share. Or your daughters?

Out of all the friends and family we've got we've been married the longest. Quite an achievement these days I think

And I just noticed your name. I too used to have a mesa. Just the one. She was also a Welsh Mesa so used to be called the cwtchers - (we had a mog too) or the carpet shark. What's the line, we are Siamese if you please, we are Siamese if you don't please. I have fond memories of my dad singing that to her.

Yes that's a good idea, I just worry that a friend might not be objective.

I do have a very brutally honest sister so I'll show it to her.

I spent so much on my last dress and this one I got for a bargain eBay! Vintage Ghost.

It suited the look I've aiming for more than some new ones I've been looking at. X

Lovely dress, very understated and classic. If you're looking for shoes I had Rachel Simpson shoes and they were beautiful and had that retro feel , I had the mimosa in mint but if you want sparkle the Isadora quartz might suit

Love the vintage 30s idea and a fur stole will be so fabulous. Imagining you looking like Cora from Downton Abbey. Much prefer Pp's shoes to yours though. Ignore the cynics, you're very lucky to be so happy so what's not to celebrate... hope you have a wonderful day x

I've just popped back on this thread to blame OP for me searching for a Siamese cat online this evening.
(my Siamese passed away after 17 years and I definitely have a Siamese shaped hole in my life)

I think at your height and size the dress with the Emmy shoes a pp posted, a fur stole and a long string of pearls you will look like a black and white movie star!

Other posters, albeit blunt, make fair points. Renewals are common after cheating. People, as on this thread, will assume that is what has happened.

If your unhappy with that assumption perhaps consider a party to celebrate your lives together?

Absolutely beautiful dress. Wouldn’t look great on me, but with your height and figure it sounds lovely. I’ve also never heard of vow renewals being linked to cheating, I think it’s a lovely idea and can totally see why people do it.
