Wedding Flowers - Anyone used New Covent Garden Market in London?

Hi
I'm getting married next year and will have a really small wedding, 30 people if everyone turns up, so it will be 6 tables.
I want to do the flowers myself, glass jars, hessian ribbon with small colourful flowers, similar to the attached picture, to save on costs but I've no experience with shopping for flowers from a market like this.

Has anyone used New Covent Garden before and done their own? Any tips and advice would be welcomed.

Thanks

We did our own flowers apart from my bouquet.
We bought flowers from the supermarkets the day before, made our own flower arch, ceremony and reception arrangements. It was one of our best decisions as we had an absolute mass of flowers and it looked gorgeous but for a fraction of the price we'd have paid going with a florist.
If you're organised and have a couple of helpers the day before it's fine and actually making the wedding arch with my husband and dad the day before was one of my best wedding memories! It's all much more special when you've made things yourself.

A wedding arch is way beyond what I need but it sounds lovely! I found a florist close to the venue that can do my bouquet and I went to the venue the other day and found the flower stand at London Bridge so I think I will stop there before heading to the venue as I'm staying there the night before by myself so I can sort the little table vases myself.

Just be mindful that when flowers are sold on a stand they are often not fully open - so they last longer.

We bought our flowers a few days before and gave them time to open before the day.

Will do, thanks for the tip

That is true! We bought ours the morning before and because we used a lot of flower food in the sponge they were open for the day but apparently the arch looked gorgeous for another week!

I was going to say you don’t need New Covent Garden if you only need six table arrangements, but from what you’re saying, you’ve now found an alternatives. I’ve never used it for event flowers, but I used to live nearby and sometimes bought fruit and vegetables there — as a pp said, they’re very much wholesale and the flowers aren’t fully open, so a flower stall sounds better.
