Opinions on dresses.

Can I have some honest opinions on these dresses please?

I am unfortunately limited in choice by a) budget b) time to wedding which means I need to buy off the peg and c) my size which means not a huge amount of choice.

Everything I look at I hate and feel I look enormous. No dress is going to hide my weight however so I recognise that’s a self-image issue rather than a dress issue but it means I’m finding it really hard to find a dress.

One of these my bridal party love and think I should go for but they like me too much to tell me I look like a hippo squeezed into a dress so I’m asking honest opinions on here instead. (Dons hard hat)

Thank you!

Agree 100% with @EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard I think you look lovely in both (esp 1), but if you don’t like something or feel comfortable in it, then don’t get it. Maybe it’s time to take a step back and re-evaluate?
Would you be happier in something other than the traditional long white dress? What is your favourite outfit? What type of dress would you normally gravitate to eg, for a party? If you had the ‘perfect’ body, what would you choose?

Srictlybakeoff · 17/11/2019 19:55

You look lovely in both but dress 1 flatters your figure much more

Run59633 · 17/11/2019 19:56

I promise I know fashion and dresses. The 1st dress is much better. It elongates your figure and shows off your nice waist. It is younger and more modern. It looks very sophisticated on you. Everyone is not a size 2 and you are not a hippo. Being tall is great. You look best in 1.

BennyTheBall · 17/11/2019 19:58

Dress 1, but definitely add sleeves.

OohEekAah · 17/11/2019 20:11

Dress number 1! You look beautiful and nothing like a Hippo Thanks

Mummyshark2018 · 17/11/2019 20:11

Dress 1. That rouched style at the side really flatters the waist. I think you look fab by the way! Wear whichever dress you chose Ruth confidence. That will make all the difference!

user1471449295 · 17/11/2019 20:14

Dress 2. Dress 1 is quite dated in its style. The bling on the waist makes it look cheap too.

JenniferM1989 · 17/11/2019 20:16

I say dress two. I think the sleeveless classic is a bit old school now and lace detail like in the second one is more modern

GlamGiraffe · 17/11/2019 20:17

Dress 1 is so much more flattering. Really suits your shape. Makes you look taller and thinner and nips your wist in. Dress 2 doesnt do much for you IMO. The fabric right up to the neck makes your body look block-ish and takes away all your shape. It also doesnt nip into the waist so over all makes you look much bigger than you are.
Definitely number 1.

glasshalfsomething · 17/11/2019 20:17

Dress 1 gives you a lovely silhouette, that would be my choice; you look lovely in it.

Echobelly · 17/11/2019 20:18

Wow, suprised people are so split here. The first one, with the slightly gathered bodice I think is much more flattering than the other one and gives you a more hourglass shape, whereas the other one seems to swamp you a bit.

Mumdiva99 · 17/11/2019 20:18

I think the front of dress 1 is gorgeous, but the back view a bit bland (it might just be the camera - you need some bling on it!). The second dress I prefer the back view of it. The front is meh.

FloreanFortescue · 17/11/2019 20:19

Either dress - once they're properly tailored to you they would both look perfect. Which do you prefer?

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 17/11/2019 20:20

Dress one and I am an expert from watching Say yes to the dress far too much

Very flattering- you look really lovely!!

UnaOfStormhold · 17/11/2019 20:27

I think opinions may be skewed because the second one isn't properly done up, which of course is going to make it look less flattering on the waist!

Toddlerteaplease · 17/11/2019 21:53

I like dress 2 better but dress one looks better on you. Though the boobs are a bit in your face, tough it may be your posture at the fine!

Toddlerteaplease · 17/11/2019 21:53

Definitely not a hippo!

Butterfly02 · 17/11/2019 22:08

Dress one is more flattering on your figure.

feelingsinister · 17/11/2019 22:15

For me the style of dress one is quite dated and two seems more classic and sophisticated.

partysong · 17/11/2019 22:19

Dress one is much nicer and you do look lovely

Otherwisebaldandunconvincing · 17/11/2019 22:22

You look amazing in dress 1.
You look good in dress 2 too but dress 1 is more flattering in my opinion.

RuthW · 17/11/2019 22:22

Dress one suits you better and with sleeves added it will be stunning.

DippyAvocado · 17/11/2019 22:23

Dress 1 is much more flattering on you, which I think is more important than an 'up-to-date' style. You want to wear something that you look good in rather than focus on whatever the latest trend might be.

goose1964 · 17/11/2019 22:24

Dress 1,its more flattering

FLOrenze · 17/11/2019 22:25

The first one gives you a beautiful shape and a longer waist. I know you won’t believe but you have a lovely figure.
