Are these bridesmaid dresses too similar to my wedding dress

I'm worried they may clash as they have a similar top as my dress

I think the lace tops and full skirted silhouette mean they are quite similar. If you like the lace tops, may be look for straighter skirts, or a midi length perhaps

DippyAvocado · 03/11/2019 12:06

They're fine because they're a different colour. I think it's nice for them to have some similarity. Last time I was a bridesmaid, all the dresses had a similar detailing on the waist and everyone commented on how well they went together.

margotsdevil · 03/11/2019 12:07

I had this exact dilemma but with sparkle! Two separate bridal shops advised me against and I went with plain dresses in the end and think it worked better.

GertiMJN · 03/11/2019 12:12

I do think they are too similar in style. Obviously you want style that complements your style of dress but this is too close I feel.

Floaty and plain, without the lace would set your dress apart.

PurpleFrames · 03/11/2019 12:13

I think they will go really nicely together in the pictures!

When Zi married my bridesmaids dresses were similar to mine, but in a different colour.
I think that it’s better when there is some sort of link between the bride and bridesmaids dresses.

mulky · 03/11/2019 12:46

I think they're far too similar

merryhouse · 03/11/2019 14:33

Surely having similar styles is a good thing?

(Is this going to be one of these generational divides?)

GertiMJN · 03/11/2019 15:22

Surely having similar styles is a good thing?

I think there's a difference between having bridesmaids' dresses that complement the style of the bride's dress, and dresses that look like a different version of the bride's dress.

I think they are nice - and the blue is pretty (not too bride-y). Maybe I’d they were shorter they would look more different’ - but I do think they look lovely (as does the wedding gown).

No, I think its nice to have a link between the wedding and bridesmaid's dresses. Your dress is lovely by the way.

user1471449295 · 08/11/2019 23:21

I think they’re fine

BaronessBomburst · 08/11/2019 23:26

I think that they'd detract from your dress.
They look like the same dress in a different colour, so it look like you're all wearing the same dress. The bride's dress should be the star and stand out as special.

You know in such a delicate matter it all depends on your taste. But I would say that the combination of the style of the bridesmaid’s dresses and yours is a certain charm, like the game of an entire orchestra in unison.
