Would my dress look better without straps? Pic attached

Hello!

So this is my second dress Blush Bought my first, fell in love with it, but then tried it on again and... nah, not so much. I think I just got carried away with the whole dress shopping experience Grin Anyway, that dress has since been returned, so was quickly back to square one.

This is my new dress and I love it (have tried it on twice and still love it Wink ) but I'm now wondering if it would be more flattering without the straps. I do like the detail, but am thinking it might be a bit much??..

Also, do you think it needs taking in more at the waist, to give me more shape? I was told it could be, but would still like to breathe.....if possible!

Thanks

The bumpy cups need *sorting out! Is what I meant.

Before you get it altered, get yourself measured properly for a bra and get it fitted to the underwear you will be wearing on the day. It looks fab and it will look much better yet when fitted.

I'd wear a plain veil with it Smile

Thanks, Olivia. I'm worrying now whether I saw something that wasn't there. I knew it was a bit loose in places, but now concerned it's just generally unflattering.

Straps!!

It will look lovely when it's tweaked

I have a dislike of strapless. Doesn't look good on many people.

Tobleronemonster · 03/04/2018 16:41

Oh god, I can't do this again!!

It's not unflattering. It's va-va-voom

Nestlyn · 03/04/2018 16:43

I love the straps, you look fabulous, have a wonderful day. X

OlennasWimple · 03/04/2018 16:51

What about a plain veil but with small crystal drops on it, like this to reflect your jewellry?

Tobleronemonster · 03/04/2018 17:43

Yoda, thanks. Va va voom was my aim Grin

Nest, I'll try! Thank you.

Wimple, that's really nice actually Smile

With straps. It looks similar to my sister's dress and it was gorgeous. I hated when I shopped for my dress as everything was strapless as very much the fashion. I got shoulder cap sleeves added to mine. I think it can often look like a bride is just wearing a towel when wearing strapless sitting down!

Tobleronemonster · 03/04/2018 17:55

Stillgame, haha you're exactly right!

The dress doesn’t look structured enough to have the straps removed. Have you checked that this is possible?

BlondeB83 · 05/04/2018 08:58

I like them btw!

olympicsrock · 05/04/2018 09:00

Straps are lovely and the fitting on the waist looks fine to me.beautiful dress!

Oblomov18 · 05/04/2018 09:06

The straps are the nicest part!

TheImprobableGirl · 05/04/2018 09:07

I would take it in more on the bodice, is it corsetted? As you can pull corsets tighter on the day, but I think you could really do with nipping in a bit.

Straps look beautiful, and it’s a wonderful dress, you look stunning! Very kate Middleton Esque

Is that your actual dress or the shop's one to try on? It will have more shape when you get a brand new one that hasn't been tried on a million times yet and once fitted to your body will look amazing.

Definitely keep the straps and I love a veil. You can always take it off for the reception.

Tobleronemonster · 05/04/2018 16:24

Thanks everyone.

It is the actual dress, which will be taken in/altered. It wasn't in the sale, but I was given a very generous reduction.

It's not corseted. I assumed I'd go for a corset in the beginning, but I felt this gave me sufficient in and out, but given some of the comments, I'm wondering whether I should maybe wear one underneath?....

Point being, I can't have a brand new one now.

It’s a gorgeous dress, the straps balance out the v shaped neckline perfectly, if you took the straps off you’d be in danger of not having enough support to the front of the dress. Definitely leave them on! Also you have a lovely shape in the dress, I don’t think it needs taking in any more unless it feels loose around the waist, but it looks like it fits perfectly.

Thebluedog · 05/04/2018 16:32

Keep the straps

PersianCatLady · 05/04/2018 16:33

I think that the dress is lovely and you look stunningly beautiful in it as it flatters your body perfectly.

In 20 years you will be glad of the straps. Strapless is a very dated look/trend and it is already starting to ‘date’ wedding photos. The dress looks lovely. Keep the straps Smile

It's lovely, keep the straps.
