How many glasses of champagne can you get out of a bottle?

We are providing our own champagne for the greeting drink, at our reception. It is a particular brand that we like and is special to us as a couple. We are also paying the reception venue corkage of £3.00 per bottle for this privilege.

We have 100 guests. 15 of which will be children or younger teenagers, there will be a few (about 3) teetotallers, and I am trying to figure out how many bottles we will need.

Champagne flutes are rather small, volume wise, I mean, aren't they? So I figure 6 glasses a bottle, so about 12 bottles? Am I being stingey?

The wedding is in about 13 weeks, hoorah!

6 glasses to a bottle. I wouldn't bother with extra because a lot of people dont like champagne weirdos and there will definitely be wastage.

6 from a bottle, but some will definitely take more.

The reckoner when I did bar work/ catering was half bottle per per person. This was when there was no spare budget e.g the menu allowed for one glass per person and that was it.

I think you probably need to double the bottles to 30 to be on the safe side. If it's for toasts, many parents will let teenagers have a glass so unless under approx 12, don't assume they won't have a glass. If you're paying corkage, you can take the non-opened home.

DD1 always has champagne at weddings, but my Dad hates it, so it evens out.

But yes, 13plus are very likely to take at least 1/2 a glass if they can get away with it.

DSIS got rather tipsy on champagne aged 15. She and the brides youngest sister, sneaked out to the garage the morning after the wedding and attacked the leftovers

I may stretch to a couple more bottles then. It is only the greeting drink, and there is a pay bar as well as free soft drinks and tea/coffee. Later toasts will be with whatever they have in their hands.

Glad I found this thread I bought 18 bottles when it was on offer and have realised I only need 10..... Hmm what to do with the left overs
