Ok Dp and I have been together for almost 10 years, have 2 children (6 and 4). We want to get married but really dont like the whole centre of attention thing so want to do it as small and quiet as possible but I need some ideas of how to make things special too.

It will be at the registry office, but Im pretty sure Im not bothered about cars, clothes, bridesmaids etc etc My family wouldnt come (they live miles away and dont visit - Im on the stately homes thread) and its the same for Dp's family. We have a few 'fairweather' friends so wouldnt want to invite them anyway, it would literally be Dp and I, 2 witnesses and the children.

I was thinking we could go for a meal afterwards as a small group but dont really know what else/if anything. We wouldnt be having a honeymoon. I think we would need photos but I HATE having to stand there smiling so think Id prefer the kind of photos where it looks like they were taken in secret, if you get me. Ive no idea how to sort this Confused

Any ideas would be much appreciated!

We got married 10days ago. It was tiny and a resounding success! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Total guests including out 7 month old ds was 14 Inc ourselves. my top tips would be if not having volume have luxury instead. We went to the grand hotel which was 5* but due to numbers v affordable. The staff were attentive but not ott. We also had a gallery room and one big oval table so everyone chatted. Also perhaps have it later in the day. Our wedding was 3pm so it didn't go on and on and on. Whatever u decide remember Its your day and enjoy. allow yourself a few luxuries it is your wedding day after all. We didn't have a honeymoon either but did spend a night in a top suite in the hotel it was wonderful. Free to as they upgraded us! Grin

Sorry just seen most recent post! Forget face mask and just use primer! On top of moisturiser before foundation! Works a treat. I did my own make up and it loomed great all day. I used no 7 £20 but u can get cheaper versions xxx

Just wanted to say a huge thanks to everyone that contributed on this thread! Your help was so very much appreciated Smile

The rain stopped for a day so we were lucky with that, it meant some lovely pictures and champagne in a park afterwards! The ceremony was beautiful, so intimate and relaxed. I really had the perfect day.

Hi, nice to read that other people are having or had a small wedding.

I was arranging a bigger wedding on only 34 roughly but that felt big so slammed the brakes on and now only 9 coming.

I to have been married before and do not want all the big attention. Even though I started the ball rolling on the first idea. After my mini meltdown we are doing a small wedding, not told the world and going on honeymoon. One thing I will say it is a lot less stress and now looking forward to it :) not getting a photographer as I can edit pics myself online. Getting a small cake, ordered a cake topper (sugar paste flowers from a lady online and they are lovely and half the price what you could pay elsewhere) Got my dress at a great price, not your conventional wedding dress. Overall it is all coming together nicely now and can not wait :)

A lot of photographers now have elopement/small packages. Could be more affordable than you think, especially if it's mid-week.

Ugh. I didn't spot the date. Serves me right for skim reading Blush
