Can someone give me a list of stuff that needs to be included on a father of the groom speech please?

Wedding is being hosted at the groom's parents house/gardens.

Have been enlisted as "speech writer" for the father of the groom who is my FIL Confused

Father of the groom doesn't make a speech, traditionally.

Yes, I know. I keep telling DH that. However, this is a Norn Iron wedding - each one I have been to over there seems to have a short father of the groom speech. Perhaps it's a quaint colloquialism traditional thing there?

Anyway, one is required for sure since the whole kit and caboodle is being hosted by the groom's parents.

I've never seen it in the republic but each to their own.

I guess just say thanks for coming and welcome to the family and isn't everyone beautiful and it's lovely to gain a daughter etc etc.. and insert witty childhood anedote about the groom. Keep it short!

oops, didn't mean the caps
