Snow?

The Mirror are predicting we will be blasted with cold weather for 90 hours 4/5 January. Any wise people know how likely this is?

My DP went off to the football in Falkirk today. Of course his train back was cancelled. He’s now on a Megabus despite me saying to try and stay overnight and get back tomorrow. I’m really worried he’s going to end up stuck 😬

As if the result wasn't bad enough, a nightmare to get home is even worse!

He’s going to be so grumpy - but will have calmed down from the match at least.

We have a decent layer of Graupel in Manchester. Not quite snow, but it’s white and pretty all the same.

The ice in the bird bath has been at least 1 inch thick, the last few mornings. We've had 0 snowflakes, just a beautiful blue sky.
However... Alexa just piped up with a weather warning for snow/ice for Tuesday.
I know it's ages away in weather forecasting terms, but my fingers are crossed for a wee bit of snow at least.

The weather forecast keeps changing this week from snow to sleet and rain. Just goes to show how unpredictable it's going to be.

Depends what you do, if people are relying on you to be at work then there can be a lot of pressure to drive in tricky conditions.

Neither had I! Other side of Manchester 🤣 we have had a snow flurry which I really enjoyed! Don't think we're going to get a full covering though!

Well, I've learned a new word today, if nothing else

Here in Cheshire we have had pathetic graupel all day until about an hour ago when we got lovely thick flakes and were able to make a snowman.

Had plenty here Durham coast. I hope it goes tomorrow as we have a long journey although motorways will be ok.

Actually no. He ended up having to check into a hotel in Dundee for the night as the bus couldn’t get up the road. No trains today either but he got a Flix bus late morning which got him home this afternoon. I resisted the urge to say “I told you so” when he admitted he’d been stupid to go when there was a weather warning in place!

We’ve got snow here in Central Scotland. It was a bit blizzardy earlier, and its Baltic!

Just seen that we're forecasted 20cm of snow on Friday! On top of the 6 inches we already have!

I like the snow for the first hour while it looks pretty and then it's the dread of the ice and slipping over. 😞

Whereabouts are you? We also have about 4 to 6 inches. The main part fell on Saturday morning then it got topped up this morning. We are due more in the morning. The snow radar looks very interesting (it's been coming down the edge of the east coast for us, but tomorrow its coming more from a North Westerly direction and looks like a lot more coverage) The temps are due to rise a bit in the next couple of days though so I wonder if it might falk as sleet. It's just hit 1 degree here now, but will be going back down to -5 again so that's going to be fun in the morning again.

I'm on the North East Coast of England btw.

Bavaria! We've lived here a couple of years but had nowhere near this much snow last winter. It's -5 here right now, dropping to -13 in the early hours of tomorrow 🥶
