The Mirror are predicting we will be blasted with cold weather for 90 hours 4/5 January. Any wise people know how likely this is?

No snow here. Just rain and an ice warning.

Met office forecasting low of -7 here tomorrow though so good job I’ve managed to find my thermals.

Dontcallmescarface · 02/01/2026 08:59

No snow in this part of North Somerset and hopefully it will stay that way. I hate the stuff.

Justlostmybagel · 02/01/2026 09:09

We've got about 5 inches overnight and this morning, here in Bavaria! The temperature isn't going above -4 all week and lows of -11 so it'll be staying around.

caringcarer · 02/01/2026 09:16

No ❄️ in the Midlands ATM. Frosty this morning though.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 02/01/2026 09:50

Quite a bit of snow here in NE Scotland - the site won’t let me attach a photo as it says it’s too big which is really strange as it’s a standard iPhone pic.

JoyintheMorning · 02/01/2026 09:52

It seems the Mirror is carrying forecasts from WX Charts. These are always more extreme than Met Office, the Actual is usually even easier.
WX was talking about a blanket of snow several inches thick down as far as London.
Sleet and cold rain mostly in the Midlands is my forecast, at worst.

You can resize the photo to make it smaller. Just crop it.

I suspect the headline is in the news because it snowed in London/the South East. If it happens in London it is everywhere 🙍

I prefer to get my weather forecast from the Met Office not a tabloid.

Had a walk in the snow over the golf course. No golfers today. Children enjoying sledging on the slopes.

North East Scotland coast.

Also NE Scotland and the blooming wind overnight has caused drifting on the track to the house.

The dark grey in the middle of the picture is our neighbour across the fields and normally we'd see another village in the distance 😂

I am enjoying the snow pictures, thank you for sharing!

Cold and frosty here today, absolutely gorgeous sunshine, but not a hint of snow

DanceMumTaxi · 02/01/2026 22:06

I really hope not. I hate driving in snow and ice, my commute is already at least 45 minutes as it is. No work from home options and my work never closes for snow. I’d be seen as a wimp if I didn’t make it in. Wish I could move to a country that was warm all year.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 02/01/2026 22:34

It’s still coming down here, amber weather warning. Our cat is really pissed off - we’re caught up in a ridiculous dance of going to the back door to see if it’s gone so he can go out, then him sadly going back to his bed by the radiator. And repeat. He was a wee stray kitten before we adopted him but is now far too much of a pampered prince to get cold, wet paws.

justasking111 · 02/01/2026 22:58

Friends little dachshund boy loves snow. Mad wee dog

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 03/01/2026 15:48

Quite a lot more here overnight and today. I carried this fella out to take this photo - he howled alarmingly and then I carried him back in 🐈

Snow?
MarjorieWestriding · 03/01/2026 16:07

Oh, the insult to the kitty paws! 😅

nannynick · 03/01/2026 17:54

Move overnight. 3-4 inches deep, deeper in places as I found out when I walked over the golf course and found my boots sinking in almost to the top.

Snow?
JazzTheDog · 03/01/2026 17:58

We're snowed in because of the drifting snow. It's about 8 - 10 inches deep in the back yard and the drifts on the track are probably 3ft deep. Hoping for a sudden thaw 😂

BeardedBarley · 03/01/2026 18:13

Glorious here in Surrey today. Bright blue skies and sun, very cold. Sadly no snow. Very envious of those with a covering.

ThatFlyIsMySpiritAnimal · 03/01/2026 18:38

We’re snowed in because of drifts too. Luckily got plenty of food and not due back at school/work til Monday. Although they’re quite risk-averse here and there’s no thaw forecast until the end of the week so I suspect school won’t be open.

nannynick · 03/01/2026 18:42

@JazzTheDogDrifts are an issue here. I am meant to be driving south tomorrow, but many roads have snow drifts, some impassable, some 4x4 only.

RecordBreakers · 03/01/2026 19:03

Midlands (England) here.
Both today and yesterday we have woken up to snow.
My 30yr old ds went out with his sledge in the local hills, but he was being a bit optimistic. Don't think there were many there. It is the ice on the roads and pavements under the snow that has made the roads very slippery though. Loads moaning on facebook about the gritters not being out (even though they had).

cobrakaieaglefang · 03/01/2026 19:41

Not a sniff of snow, south coast.

Middlemarch123 · 03/01/2026 19:42

Norfolk, snowing steadily, started early morning. I’m a dog walker, the pugs refused to go further than the lane, bundled up in their flying jackets. The collies loved it, and did their usual two miles. I was glad to get home, bitterly cold. Two of my cats went out in the garden as usual. One stayed by the fire all day. Further snow forecast tomorrow.

DH needs to get from ours to Ellon and onwards. It looks like the worst part will be the 12 miles to Ellon 🙈

From the pic you uploaded before I'm guessing your best option is up to the PhD road past the bullers and then south. I've been watching the traffic Scotland cameras and some of the slip roads up to the dualler look horrendous. Safe trip.

Edited to add that I sound like a stalker but I promise I just recognised the golf course photo yesterday 😂

nannynick · 03/01/2026 21:03

@JazzTheDog I’ve decided to stay longer, will attempt drive south on Wednesday.
Looking at Fubar News on Facebook the A90 does not look good, especially south of Stonehaven heading to Forfar.
