Checking in!

My step brother is flying into Aberdeen on Sat morning… that could be a bumpy landing, or may be fine. No idea what time his flight comes in but my guess is the later in the day the better.

Schools in four counties in N Ireland closed with no warning this morning (upgraded to amber) - kids sent home before 12. No far not much sign of any wind but v heavy rain since about 9 am.

Wind getting up in Central Scotland

Berlinlover · 03/10/2025 13:01

Quite windy here in the west of Ireland.

ComfortFoodCafe · 03/10/2025 13:04

Getting windy & heavy rain north east england. Powergrid has sent out texts expecting power cuts
overnight.
Love a good storm.

TeenWhisperer · 03/10/2025 18:11

Wish I weren't booked to travel from London to Edinburgh on a train on Saturday evening. Hope they're not all completely cancelled.

66boat66 · 03/10/2025 18:33

It's rough here in the east Midlands

RainbowZebraWarrior · 03/10/2025 20:30

Current wind map for the UK. The West Coast of Ireland looks to be getting hammered. Hope all are OK there. As usual, we also have a weird spin-off here on the NE coast of England

I’m in the NE and it’s pretty wild atm, the dog hates it, I hate it, grim all round. At least we have some high pressure on the horizon.

Awrite · 03/10/2025 20:44

I'm in West (coast) of Scotland. Wind has been ferocious for hours now. I'm obsessively watching a Hercules that was meant to land at Prestwick about an hour ago on Flightradar.

MirandaWest · 03/10/2025 20:46

Looks like it’s being diverted to Manchester

BlackeyedSusan · 03/10/2025 20:49

Windy West Midlands.

Got home before the worst of the wind. It was squally once I arrived at dd's college but got home and to the supermarket before the worst arrived. The rain has been bad but managed most of my driving in a break in the heaviest rain. It sounds really blowy out there now.

Kiddo's out and about though. On a cycle.

Thanks for the thread!

I can see the Pisa to Prestwick has been diverted to Manchester. However, this has no diversion notice up. I suspect it's because it's not a commercial flight.

AInightingale · 03/10/2025 20:59

The north west of Scotland seems to have been getting particularly battered. The storm seems to have hit Donegal hard then moved out into the northern Atlantic, Hebrides etc, but the worst of it didn't hit NI, though it's stormy enough.

Awrite · 03/10/2025 21:15

A London to Aberdeen flight circled Aberdeen and has been diverted back to London.
