Only asking because I saw something in the Daily Express whilst passing the paper stand in the supermarket. I know the DE is "weather conscious" but it would be great to have an indian summer.

OP posts:

Weather conscious? The Daily Express is weather nonsense.

LinedOverLatte · 05/09/2025 16:57

Hopeful bump - @bananaskin123- This would be amazing! Someone more knowledgeable will hopefully be along soon ☀️

ginasevern · 05/09/2025 17:40

I bloody hope so. I was loving the hot summer and then it fell off a cliff. It did the same in 1976.

narcASD · 05/09/2025 18:22

Hope not I’m sick to death of heat. I live in the SE and it’s been a fantastic summer but time to move on now.

DrCoconut · 05/09/2025 19:21

Hope so. It'd be lovely to get another beach day in before the winter weather really starts. The summer was nice but so short compared to all the weeks of cold we're facing now.

Comedycook · 05/09/2025 19:23

I like it to stay as warm as possible for as long as possible so that autumn/winter feels shorter

Abracadabra12345 · 05/09/2025 22:16

I’m the exact opposite - I adore autumn and winter. Summer started in spring so it can bugger off now

BuildbyNumbere · 05/09/2025 23:07

Oh if only there was a weather app to check?!!

nannynick · 06/09/2025 05:57

When? Next couple of days there is a low pressure in the Atlantic which may mean that heat from southern France gets moved towards the UK but as the low gets closer that brings rain. So low 20’s this weekend, maybe mid 20 is possible in South East.

Longer term than that is hard to know.

JustReal · 06/09/2025 05:59

Stick your head out the door and have a check! Don't forget to report back!

Netaporter · 06/09/2025 06:03

At this time of year the DE rotates in Indian Summer weather related headlines to mix it up from their staples of housing crash predictions and conspiracy theories about who killed Princess Diana. I wouldn’t read too much into it tbh.

Exactly it’s usually about now they start with the ‘worst winter in a century on its way expect to be snowed in for a month’ headline

Heatwave 🤣🤣🤣
if you’re in the UK, no way!
Its not even been that hot this summer!
Bring back weather from the 70’s when we literally had wall to wall summers for more than a month!!!

I love it when people rely on anecdotes and rose tinted classes rather than actual scientific data to comment on the weather 😄🤦‍♀️

We’ve had it sunny in Devon, but it definitely wasn’t a heatwave, 30c is definitely not hot 🤣

Not like the summers from when I was a child, years ago summers lasted a lot longer than a month or so

Specially for you.

Zonder · 06/09/2025 07:20

While my pic is under review...

Prof Richard Allan, climate scientist at the University of Reading, said:

“Sustained warmth with multiple short-lived, regional heatwaves in 2025 culminated in the warmest UK summer in the observational record, building on the extremely dry spring. Hotter summers are consistent with long term heating from rising greenhouse gases due to human activities, with an additional boost from declining unhealthy particle pollution that has allowed more of the previously scattered sunlight to bake the ground.

“It was a warmer summer even than the iconic 1976 though in contrast the heat of 2025 extended over a much wider area of western Europe and was accompanied by a record burned area from wildfire.

This video shows the outlier GFS run which models the jet stream going north and thus heat from Mediterranean coming up.

My feelings exactly.

Had to start watering my garden in March and the early, unexpected heat caused a few problems although these were nothing compared to the prolonged hot, dry weather we have had since then.

Bring on the autumnal rains and get nature back to something like normal.

Specially for you.

It certainly didn’t feel like it where I live!
Not even set foot on the beach this year!!!
