Couldn't see a thread about this.

BBC can't make up its mind, sometimes it's headline news, sometimes it isn't.

Due to hit Scotland, northern England, Wales and Northern Ireland tomorrow with winds up to 85mph!

Cumbria here as well , raining and gusting , not terrible roof damaging yet but you wouldn't be wanting to walk the dog .

We are heading home south now after a holiday.

There are still lots of tall vehicles heading the other way 😬

Storm flois is here in northern ireland 😩 i have a bit of fear of wind, night time worse but day time its easier. Moved garden stuff to safer place, wish we had a sun storm that lasted 🤣

Mochudubh · 04/08/2025 09:35

We've had to close off our automatic doors as they open outwards and the wind was blowing them shut so there's a danger of people getting trapped in the door. Still 30 mins to go before the amber warning kicks in.

musicalfrog · 04/08/2025 11:07

How's everyone doing?

Died down in Cumbria , sun came out but now whilst still sunny wind is picking up again .

RainbowZebraWarrior · 04/08/2025 12:20

It's starting to get hairy here now. There's creaking and howling when the gusts come, and some general movement noise outside. 3pm onwards will be the strongest gusts for us. I think all of my apples and pears will be stripped from the trees, but if that's the worst I'll be happy.

Whitley Bay (NE coast of England)

if my neighbours new enormous trampoline ends up in my garden, I will throttle the buggers

TitaniasAss · 04/08/2025 12:22

West coast of Scotland here. It's very windy but not unusually so (for here). Sea is pretty wild.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 04/08/2025 12:26

Just been out to check and there's a few pots over in the back garden. The little ones next door are on their trampoline!!

Honestly speechless but I shouldn't be surprised.

doodleschnoodle · 04/08/2025 12:28

Blowy here in north-east Scotland! Still to reach its peak. The rain is off at least.

shellyleppard · 04/08/2025 12:29

I'm stuck in Edinburgh. Should be traveling home today but ALL the trains have been cancelled. Mad scramble to find a room for the night....

Ciri · 04/08/2025 12:33

Im in the midlands but the rain and wind are dreadful. Teen DS has just had to go out and drive through a very wooded area in a soft top car and I'm a bit worried.

PersianKittens · 04/08/2025 12:44

its windy but nothing major here in central Scotland. Has the odd gust then tails off again, but I expect she will be here in full pelt soon!

my parents are on the coast in Fife and it’s been blowing a hoolie all day so far!

My part of Cumbria is all calm, clear and sunny. I'm actually sitting in the garden now!

InMyHealthyEra · 04/08/2025 13:12

East Midlands here and it’s very windy! On and off rain
If I knew it was going to be this bad I would have tidied up the garden a bit and taken my wind chimes down

Liliwen · 04/08/2025 13:27

North east wales and it was really windy earlier with rain but weirdly calm and sunny with blue skies now!

notimagain · 04/08/2025 13:41

Easyjet flight now heading back to Luton having failed to get into Inverness..the fact the airport has had gusts up to 59 knots (almost 65-70 mph) at the last hour might have something to do with it..

siliconcover · 04/08/2025 13:45

South Scotland. Sunny, rainy, VERY gusty. Walked dog, got the bins in, hunkered down.

GirlInterrupted · 04/08/2025 13:53

In Glasgow, Floris took our tree down!

gingeristhenewblack43 · 04/08/2025 13:56

👋🏻 @RainbowZebraWarriorapprox 5 miles east of you in Wallsend. Very gusty strong winds. I think it’s forecast to peak for us at 5/6pm.

DD and I are hibernating for the day. Lots of local outdoor attractions are closed for the day and no trains going north of Newcastle today.

This time last week we were travelling to Edinburgh, so glad it’s not today!

Stay safe everyone!

Took one of my trees down here in Cumbria, but said tree was a dwarf lilac in a pot waiting to be planted in the Autumn, so probably not quite so dramatic! The silver birch and oak have barely been troubled!

Corrag · 04/08/2025 13:59

I'm on Skye, it's pretty bad here now. Trees down all over the place. Multiple camper vans have blown over, blocking various roads. They were warned but have clearly taken no notice. As if the police haven't got enough to deal with today.

Toddlerteaplease · 04/08/2025 14:04

Currently staying with my parents in Penrith, they weren’t to keen when I said I was going to go to Hexham. I did take the road my dad told me to avoid. (Can’t quite see his issue with it!)

siliconcover · 04/08/2025 14:08

Ds travelling back from a Train show (oh yes!) to Edinburgh eta 4pm. Fingers crossed 🤞

Chemenger · 04/08/2025 14:08

Pretty windy here in Fife st the moment. Luckily the tide is out so no waves breaking over the car! FIL is insisting it isn’t windy at all for some unknown reason, possibly his hearing aids don’t pick it up howling in the chimney.
