"More organised rain" 😃

It has been all week in the Highlands and far northern Scotland. That's normal.

Nothing elsewhere. Will just make some parts a bit colder.

I've been watching this! Seems very early but very exciting

DH comes from a family of butchers and almost every year they'd get cold in mid to late November and then the weather would warm up again shortly before Christmas. There was often panic about the huge number of turkeys hanging in the shop and whether or not they'd stay cold enough.

I have a yellow warning for snow and ice on Monday and Tuesday. Central Scotland!

jazzyseph · 15/11/2024 14:01

Where I am in Northern Scotland has been beautifully mild and pretty consistently sunny so far this month. But am a little excited for a spot of snow

Lucky!

I'm in the Midlands and always tend to miss out on the fun weather warnings

My DD is at Durham and was really excited when snow was forecast for next week but looks like it's been changed to rain. I told her she should have taken her winter boots...

DelilahBucket · 16/11/2024 08:32

Yellow weather warning for snow/ice here in West Yorkshire for Mon/Tue.

Yellow weather warning for snow/ice here in West Yorkshire for Mon/Tue.

Son lives outside Leeds, looks promising for real dump of snow

AlexaSetATimer · 17/11/2024 18:38

Had hail and a snow flurry here today (north Scotland) also gone from unseasonably mild to very chilly in 48 hours - a drop of 10 degrees from last week to today!

justasking111 · 17/11/2024 20:53

Husband and colleague have to drive to Powys Tuesday morning. They're forecast a good dump of snow overnight. I shall suggest they take a shovel. The driver is used to driving in the Highlands. Hopefully inexperienced drivers will take heed of the forecast.

GloriaSmud · 18/11/2024 07:23

It looks like it'll be the hills of northern England and the very north of Scotland that are the areas that are going to get some good snow amounts today and tomorrow. Possibly the chance of some at lower levels overnight.

Metoffice weather warnings for tonight and tomorrow.

I’m in Leeds and I’m expecting to wake up to snow tomorrow

YorkshireLawyer · 18/11/2024 12:51

@WingBingo I’m between Keighley and Skipton and have pretty much guaranteed my kids it’ll be white over in the morning 😂

BrokenBrit · 18/11/2024 12:52

I’ve got to drive from Chester to Crewe early tomorrow morning (before sunrise) then back tomorrow night. I’m taking a friend to the hospital for a procedure so it’s very important but I’m not a confident snow driver especially in the dark. Does anyone know how Cheshire is supposed to be please? Thanks

GloriaSmud · 18/11/2024 14:29

BrokenBrit ~ there might be a few problems, as heavy snow is forecast just after midnight but it eases towards morning, probably around the time you're due to leave. Main roads should be ok but I would allow plenty of time for your journey and take your time. Getting home in the evening should be ok but watch out for ice, as temperatures will be close to freezing by then.
Hope everything goes well for your friend.

Son is in Farsley and looking forward to some white stuff.

ForPearlViper · 18/11/2024 14:39

If you go to the Netweather site, they have regional forums where there are some very knowledgeable and generally very kind posters. If there's snow in the offing, there'll be a lot of them on there! I'd suggest you go over there and ask them - a lot of them live in Cheshire.

I've just changed the date of my Mum's Covid booster. It was due tomorrow and we're forecast (at the moment) for heavy snow overnight. She lives high in the Pennines and is obviously extremely wary of ice and snow at her advanced age.

The thing with forecasts is that we're a tiny island in a big ocean so if the front takes even a very tiny deviation it can miss us entirely. However, the Met Office seem pretty confident about this one.

Good luck taking your friend tomorrow. Hopefully the main routes will be clear.

TokyoSushi · 18/11/2024 16:40

Well I'm excited, even if I do have to do quite a lot of work travel over the next few days!

WingBingo · 18/11/2024 22:09

Couple of inches near to Leeds and still snowing!

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 19/11/2024 08:19

We've got snow in west Oxfordshire. I wasn't expecting that.
