It will rain again soon... won't it?

I live near Bristol. Can't remember the last time we had significant rain. Is there any rain at all likely to occur in the next week or so? I'm actually getting worried about how severe and longlasting this drought will be.

SE and can't remember the last time it rained. Will never moan about it again when it finally comes!

Rained all day in the North.

Standard.

Bumptious22 · 31/07/2022 00:22

Non stop since our two day summer here. 😭

bluesky45 · 31/07/2022 00:29

The rain feels constant here in the NW. But it always does. Either raining or cloudy. This summer has mostly been shit weather tbh. Same as usual. 2 nice days last week. A few in June. A few in may. Nothing consistent.

ClinkeyMonkey · 31/07/2022 00:47

I got caught in an actual flood in Derry last weekend. Houses were destroyed and some people had to be rescued from their cars and homes. It's not dry everywhere🙃

colouringindoors · 31/07/2022 00:48

Chilterns. Cannot genuinely remember when i last had more than a minute of rain. The garden is brown and very unhappy. Everywhere is tinder dry.

MammaWeasel · 31/07/2022 00:52

West Midlands, it's been raining or drizzling since the mega hot two days. Where is the sun? Not here, that's where!

Pixiedust1234 · 31/07/2022 00:52

I'm still waiting for a dry day. The last one was the 40c day. Bloody washing is piling high right now grrr

MadisonAvenue · 31/07/2022 01:18

Like others in the West Midlands have said, we’ve had rain most days since the heatwave - including four hours of heavy rain one evening last week when none at all was showing on the forecast for our area.

I’ve had to resort to wearing wellies again when I walk the dog.

Carrotmum · 31/07/2022 01:26

Come to Scotland, no shortage of rain here.

TartanGirl1 · 31/07/2022 01:26

Plenty of rain in Scotland!

smooththecat · 31/07/2022 01:35

It’s as dry as Jesus’ sandal where I am.

It's rained most of today here (W Midlands). We've had plenty of rain in the past week too. Our once parched lawn is now definitely green again. More rain forecast for tomorrow too. Looking forward to seeing the sun again some time!

Also w mids but it only started raining tonight. Today has been mostly dry.

Oh and now I've jinxed it and it has stopped.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/07/2022 08:05

It would be better if rain could be shared a little more fairly Wink

For those wondering why we are moaning about lack of rain, you can see how consistently low rainfall has been for many in the table. Note how the SE for example has had just 9% of its usual July rainfall to the 26th July. That comes on top of the extreme heat earlier in the month. Even those in the NW might be suprised at how they had comparatively little rain to the 26th as compared to an average July.

The river map shows where rivers are exceptionally low. This category might be expected just 5% of the time for that particular river. Note the two green rivers in the SE, the Ouse and the Medway may be affected by reservoir water flowing into them according to the notes and therefore and don't necessarily reflect the state of the ground around them.

There is still the chance I think of showers in the SE today then as I said last night, little if anything in the forecast.

Adding a link because mn is eating my photos this morning.

Come to Yorkshire, it’s not bloody stopped raining here for a fortnight.

TalbotAMan · 31/07/2022 10:06

Another NW England one. It barely stops here. Just let the cat out as a bit of watery sun broke through the clouds.

TimBoothseyes · 31/07/2022 10:17

I'm not far from Bath and it's raining here.

crossstitchingnana · 31/07/2022 10:18

Hampshire, not seen rain for at least two months. I was away recently and missed a thunderstorm, apparently. I was in North Yorkshire and, yes, it rained every day. The grass up there is a lovely green. Here? Brown and dead. All my plants dead. Hosepipe ban coming in this week.

ladygindiva · 31/07/2022 10:22

I'm in Cornwall , it's been raining all weekend 🤣

Oblomov22 · 31/07/2022 11:01

Nothing in Surrey or Dorset. It last rained, poured overnight on the Wednesday of the hottest day Tuesday. Was that only last week? But saying that, it poured in Surrey, and my mum in Chichester had nothing.

justasking111 · 31/07/2022 11:04

N Wales rained last night 6am I got up was so close let dog out it was a pea souper thick mist and so humid. Sunny again now

NoWordForFluffy · 31/07/2022 11:22

NoWordForFluffy · 30/07/2022 21:47

Yep, same on the NW coast. Rain forecast in and off all week too.

And it chucked it down all night (it woke me around 5am, it was so loud).

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/07/2022 11:49

Photos I intended to add before mn died.

It will rain again soon... won't it?

I love the North, I really do, but not being able to plan a bbq two weeks in advance in summer is a little bit shit.

justasking111 · 31/07/2022 12:37

In Wales you get two days Max if friends are having a BBQ 😂😂
