Any thoughts on whether there might be a heatwave towards the mid/end of July @ohyoubadbadkitten ? Seems to be fairly widely reported, but not from particularly reliable sources!

I hope it's all right to ask here about the next couple of weeks

i've seen some forecasts saying London will hit 28 by Thursday this week and others saying Monday next week.

i don't tend to believe them when they forecast for "end of the month".

CallmeMrsPricklepants · 04/07/2022 22:13

No thank you!

Zazdar · 04/07/2022 22:16

Oh, I do hope so. I like a good heatwave.

WinterMusings · 04/07/2022 22:17

Makes my name change seem quite out of kilter!!

it would be good if it could wait until Tour de France is over so I can enjoy it!! (Not there this year, but enjoying the live TV coverage & wont want to go out when it's on)

No thank you!

Same here
i need to do a lot of planning to ensure no meetings, no need to get on Tube etc
then stuck with the boiling flat

really hope the end of month speculation is wrong

youcantparktheresir · 04/07/2022 22:30

Ooooo I hope so and I can't wait. Love me some hot sun!

FortonServices · 04/07/2022 22:32

Fingers crossed 🤞 🌞

HighlandCowbag · 05/07/2022 12:25

Hope so, we are in Devon for a weeks holiday from 16th July! Managed to pick the hottest week last year, so hopefully wil do the same this year.

cheninblanc · 05/07/2022 13:26

It looks very hot for where we are so I hope that forecast calms down a little tbh

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/07/2022 17:24

I've started a thread www.mumsnet.com/talk/weather/4583720-we-need-to-talk-about-the-weather-and-the-potential-for-extreme-heat so that I pop up in a different colour on the thread. I hope thats ok @TokyoSushi

TokyoSushi · 05/07/2022 17:42

Perfect, thanks @OhYouBadBadKitten !!

Thanks Kitten
a neighbour mentioned 41 and I was a bit puzzled.

girding myself for the usually boiling flat to be even worse.

most places with air con, the air con doesn't work above 35 I think? It seems to be the standard in this country. It's the point at which my fridge freezer packs up.

Hedgesfullofbirds · 05/07/2022 18:03

Christ! Please no - I work outside in a very physical environment and it is deeply unpleasant working in temperatures much above 20 degrees which, surely, is plenty warm enough for anyone. Added to which, it will undo all the good brought about by the recent rainfall - precious, life giving stuff that it is

EmmaH2022 · 06/07/2022 08:25

I keep checking the forecasts and they all vary. It's cloudy again this morning so fingers crossed they are as wrong as they have been lately.

IGotItInTheSales · 06/07/2022 08:34

Is it a 'heatwave' or just 'summer' though?

Obviously 41 is unheard of, but 28? It's what I'd expect that time of year....summer

I miss the factual threads.

I don't care what it's called but accurate weather forecasts are rare so I'm especially interested if anyone thinks they have accurate figures for London.

IGotItInTheSales · 06/07/2022 11:53

It's rare I see a weather forecast that has been 100% accurate

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/07/2022 18:13

I'm updating weather updates on the other thread. I'm not going to play guess the temperature yet.
