When can we expect the weather to warm up a bit? May seems awfully late for thermals.

Looks like from the middle of next week onwards, it could warm up a little but that's really only from the midlands southwards. The north and Scotland still look chilly and there still could be frequent showers for the whole country.
It's definitely been a bit of a yuck spring!

Forecast for the next couple of weeks doesn't look brilliant either, at least where I am. Wet and on the cool side.

Any chance of a three month long heatwave after that please?! 🙏🔆🏖

I would like a pleasant 19 please. Heatwaves are not for me I like to sleep and dh burns easily.
There definitely seems to be a change in the temperature this week not so bitter first thing in the morning which is good.

Wet and cold again today, I've got the heating on, and we've cancelled our pub garden lunch reservation on Saturday because more of the same is forecast.

Looks awful here until the end of May at least.

It to my mind does seem to be a pattern, last year was so HOT even by now (SE), that it'll be shit damp and cold this year.

Lockdown 1 wold have been horrendous if it had been like this. All my photos from April onwards are outside with BBQs and the paddling pool.

Just came onto this thread for a bit of hope that summer (or even proper spring!) may be round the corner

I was just looking to see if there was a thread about how crappy May is being. And had a hollow laugh at the prediction 7/05 on that 'from the middle of next week' it might get warmer, followed a mere 5 days later by 'next few weeks, more of the same'

Is there any hope?

There isn't much in the way of signs of a warmup yet I'm afraid.

I don't tend to believe long term weather forecasts but maybe I'm wrong about how good the methods are. I look a few days ahead and that's it.
