Are there any hints of what may happen in August?

I'm torn between needing rain for the wildlife and farmers and wanting a hot and dry, and therefore easier, school holidays.

well cant remember last time it rained her but cooler and possibly some rain next week

(Apologies- on holiday atm so can't do usual links) It's a bit early for the models but I've looked at the metoffice long range forecast and they're going for 'changeable' going into August. There should still be warm spells, especially for the SE but they think there might be rain at times as well.

It depends on the part of the country. It's possible that the SE and the South may carry on as we are pretty much. Perhaps a little less settled. Overall, it's looking above average in terms of temps across the country through August at the moment. However, long term forecasting is notoriously unreliable.

Are you seeing signs of it getting even hotter next week oybbk?

I've seen several posts on Twitter saying there's signs it could reach 35 and even 38 degrees next week and the week after.

I was pondering the water situation earlier. Are we less likely to hit a drought situation because water storage and processing is more efficient?

I'm spending a lot of time traipsing in and out of the garden with washing up bowls of used water.

We entered the dry period with good water reserves. April and May were wet.

i heard if the lack of rain carrys on it will be next year that the UK could be in trouble water wise

Definitely Ursula. Temps will be a bit cooler fortunately as it's been frazzle your head off in London over the weekend.

Maybe a linen shruggy thingy. I am too British to go away without a coat of some description.

It's what the heat has reduced my language capabilities to Phil. I do think that I've melted my few remaining brain cells. Pity really. I hope I can grow new ones.

I haven't found anyone's forecast reliable more than 3 days ahead really.

Sally- I'm not seeing those sort of higher 30 type temperatures for next week but they could get into the mid-upper 20s, especially for the Midlands southwards.

We're in N Wales at the moment and it's been wet today. It was also the day we booked to go up Snowdon on the railway. We saw all of about 20....feet from the top! And what's worse, the rest of the week looks OK!
