Does anyone know - is there more summer to come? Or is it time to get autumn clothes out?

I reckon we'll get a random hot week at the end of September beginning of October, it's happened before but yes I would think about getting warmer clothes out 🌲🍁🍃🍂

From my (very amateur) look at the GFS chart (which only goes up 'til 21/9 at the moment), it isn't looking too bad for the next few weeks but nothing that I'd describe as 'hot and summer-like.' It's more temperatures ranging from 9-18C with weather a bit like it is at the moment ~ sunshine and showers.
So not great but not awful either.

Sorry, I've been a bit neglectful, but I have more time on my hands now than I did so hopefully will be around the weather section more. Not a lot has changed from when Gloria replied. A few days of gales here and there (see separate gale thread) this week, then nothing amazing. Later on this month a nice area of high pressure settles to our west, giving calm weather, hopefully pleasant by day, but perhaps some early frosts at night.

It seems much colder than it usually is this time of year. I remember taking dd to school last year and it being really humid still. Bloody freezing this morning!

Hopefully it means we'll get a good winter finally this year with some snow!Grin

Well, there is some hopecasting going on in one weather forum that it's going to be a winter like 2010/11 purely based on the fact that was a bonkers hurricane season. But it doesn't really work like that :)

I think it's pretty average at the moment apart from cloud levels which are making it feel duller and cooler. Met office contingency planners are going for a warmer than average autumn with average rainfall. looking outside, that's hard to believe.

It is really cold here in outer London. The heating clicked on this morning much to my surprise.

It was really warm this time last year according to my Facebook feed.

Yes, it feels much more autumny than it usually does in september - I'm in Ireland and it feels more like mid october a lot of the time. I'm loving it : )

I think the problem is that we haven't really had a proper summer. Some years you can get to the point where you have had lots of sunny days, and a bit of autumn seems quite exciting. But this just feels like we never really got into summer and now it's autumn again. Like a day where you never really get out of your pyjamas.
