Loads of road closures even the M50. Luckily I have nowhere I need to be. One unexpected bonus in all this is all the junior footy has been off. Grin

saintlyjimjams · 25/11/2012 09:24

Raining again (south Devon)

Chanatan · 25/11/2012 09:30

saintlyjimjams,I,m south devon too.

TheMysteryCat · 25/11/2012 09:35

The rain stopped for all of half hour in north cornwall and has just started again! At least the wind has died down. Looks like most local roads are closed or flooded in places and certainly the big main roads have got serious problems. So glad I'm up high. Hope everyone down in the villages are ok.

OhYoubadbadKitten · 25/11/2012 09:37

TMC, there is a bit of a cluster of showers in your area, hopefully it will dry out again for a little bit.

Chanatan, that is good news :)

M50 again it was shut on Wed as well.

They spend their lives digging it up, I thought some of that was to stop it flooding.

Watching flood gages as need to go to Gloucester. Seven lags local flooding as water runs of the Welsh hills. High tide also joins in. So it can be a bright sunny day, all our lanes can be dry and the road into Gloucester can be shut, some times only for an hour at peek tide.

saintlyjimjams · 25/11/2012 09:42

Hands brolly to chanatan

I have no idea what to do with ds1 today. Don't want to risk Bigbury - if it rains I might get stuck there, don't think I should head to Dartmoor.....

OhYoubadbadKitten · 25/11/2012 09:46

Good luck startail. Severn is running very high isn't it. Looks like it will peak between Tewkesbury and Gloucester tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks oybbk.

I'm getting supplies from the village and then straight back home! Saintly, not sure I'll be going anywhere near dart moor either! It looks horrid atm.

OhYoubadbadKitten · 25/11/2012 09:47

Dartmoor wouldn't be my choice of place to visit today. Even thought it shouldn't be too wet during the day.

Thanks for the good wishes, what are the odds that that is exactly when the car is fixed?

saintlyjimjams · 25/11/2012 10:05

No, especially as we would go through low bits. I am stumped, bigbury & Dartmoor is what we do. Hmmm

OhYoubadbadKitten · 25/11/2012 11:01

Watching it on the news this morning. Not great.

Hammering down in south Devon. Was good to head to our local beach changed my mind on the way here Am now sat in the car waiting for it to ease off so I can chuck a ball around for the dog. Have ds1 with me who unimpressed but needs to go out as well.

Sparklingbrook · 25/11/2012 12:37

The sun came out! It really did. It has gone back in now though. Sad

This next system has come in very quickly rumbaa :( not given people a chance to get themselves sorted a bit. Lots of showers between the two systems as well.

Severn is amazingly high at Worcester - the flood plain is doing its job well, but it doesn't have to get much higher for a lot of damage to be done.
DS delighted to see a house on the flood plain (house itself is well above the water, but its access road is not) being accessed by boat - we have previously seen the people who live there walking in in waders.

pepperrabbit · 25/11/2012 16:56

We had a noisy night here (NE Hampshire) - awake with the wind mostly, 2 fence panels down and shored up in the brief sunshine this morning. Bottom of the garden under about an inch of standing water. No real risk of flooding and I've seen more water in the garden previously, it's just so grim outside at the moment. Getting me down a bit (I also have had pneumonia and still recovering so damp weather is pretty crap healthwise!).
I feel so sorry for the awful stories on here and people on the news with feet of water coming up through the floor Sad
Luckily it's just started raining again Hmm

Sparklingbrook · 25/11/2012 16:56

I am wondering if I will get DS to the coach and then the coach to school CMOT. He had 3 days off sick last week and really needs to go back in.

Helenagrace · 25/11/2012 17:02

CMOT we used to live in Worcester. I remember the town bridge being closed quite often and having to go to Ombersley to cross the river. We have friends in Kempsey but they are OK.

We have family in Exeter too but they are also OK.

Sparklingbrook · 25/11/2012 17:08

The road from here to Ombersley was closed this morning Helena. Sad
