New 3 month forecasting?

Heard on the radio this morning that Met Office has a new tool that can allow them to forecast up to 3 months in advance...
So what's the story with winter 2012/13 then? They missed that part of the story!

I heard that on the radio this morning. I need to do some reading but it does sound interesting.

Two words: Barbecue Summer (as forecast by the Metoffice by the new computer/satellite they said they had 2-3 years ago.)
I'm still waiting for that summer!
