I know we didn't really need telling but it's official now!

It is so depressing. For the first time ever I am wistfully thinking about how lovely it would be to live in another country!

RackandRuin · 03/07/2012 13:58

Tell me about it. I've hardly used my washing line all year.

GooseyLoosey · 03/07/2012 14:01

I was looking at summer clothes on sale the other day and then thought, what's the point and put them back.

Earlybird · 03/07/2012 14:06

I'll trade you! Come live in my part of America! We've just had the hottest June on record.

It was over 40 every day last week (one day got up to 43), and this week we've 'cooled off' to 38/39. I've barely left the house. Most everyone who works outside begins around 6.30AM and stops for the day at lunch. It is too dangerous to work in those conditions. Heat and lack of rain is also killing all the crops.

All I can say is - 'thank goodness for air conditioning' (but I'm sure I'll have a heart attack when the bill arrives Shock)

Anywhere still have a hosepipe ban?

SydneyB · 03/07/2012 14:09

Oh weather experts, any chance AT ALL of a summer? Or are we going to trail off into the Autumn still wearing winter boots? Sob.

RackandRuin · 03/07/2012 14:19

I'm going up to Yorkshire in the school holidays. I'm thinking about packing a canoe.

MonaLotte · 03/07/2012 14:21

I have just ordered a new rain suit for DS. He was wearing his snow boots on Sunday. Glad I wasted all that money on shorts in March!

It's so depressing :(

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 03/07/2012 20:02

Grin i started a thread earlier with exactly the same title!

Sydney. No signs yet unfortunately.

DD1 was supposed to be enduring having her Sports Day today but it's been postponed 'til Thursday (don't rate their chances for then!) DDs 2 and 3 ~ their Sports afternoon on Friday has been postponed already as the field's too wet. It should be on Monday now and that's only if the weekend's dry (and I don't rate their chances for that day either!)

Every single one of DD's school things has been cancelled so far - sports day, olympic picnic, fun run, school fete - and I've just put my washing out based on the met office forecast for no rain after 10 and it is chucking it down. If the washing is not dry by 6pm I am leaving the country, it's official.

shrimponastick · 04/07/2012 11:57

I just wish the rain would nob off!

It isn't fair. I have tons of lovely summer dresses to wear -and itjust isn't sunny/warm enough to wear them.

GloriaSmud · 04/07/2012 12:30

Shrimp ~ I was a little Shock in Sainsbury's yesterday, as they're selling off all their summer clothes and sandles already. I spotted a summer suit from Gok Wan's range and the skirt was £30 reduced to £9! Customers just aren't buying the goods.
