usualsuspect · 28/06/2012 17:04

DartsAgain · 28/06/2012 17:07

Ohyoubadbadkitten Wind suddenly ramped up a lot immediately prior to torrential rain, but while we now have some clouds, it has dropped again.

twolittlemonkeys · 28/06/2012 17:12

Fantastic storm, best forked lightning I've seen in this country. Driving along the A6 through Oadby was pretty ropey though - the road was seriously flooded in places - like driving through a lake. Hope I haven't damaged the car Confused

DartsAgain · 28/06/2012 17:20

Ha! It's nice and sunny now. Just hope it holds long enough for DS to do his bicycle training up at the school.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 28/06/2012 17:26

Darts, can you tell me anything about the direction of the wind?

Ha! Grin there's lots of Clarendon park yummy mummies (I'm not!) and we have a sing song at the end. I have a voice that kills birds Blush

Tinkerisdead · 28/06/2012 17:35

Im in le14

my house is trashed. Greenhouse smashed to bits, polytunnel full of holes as hailstones tore through them, gutters are full of holes, my car is trashed and the insurance have just booked it in for a new respray.

I can honestly say it was really frightening as i was at home with my baby and my other dd was at preschool. It was awful knowing dd1 was somewhere without me prob frightened.

I filmed it on my phone, it was horrendous. Hailstones like golf balls hammered the house, my driveway was a swirling flooded mass within minutes and all our greenhouses just smashed to the floor. The noise was terrible and the house was as black as night inside.

Never seen anything like it in my life.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 28/06/2012 17:37

Doctors wife that is extraordinary, it must have been utterly terrifying, I'm so sorry you had to go through that.

Please, can you post this report to torro the tornado and storm research organisation. They will be exceptionally interested in this.

Yes i need to upload the video/photos because believe it or not we're vacating the house and it was due for an end of tenancy inspection and ive had to photo everything to prove it wasnt me!! I'll put some pics on my profile tonight if u want to see.

DartsAgain · 28/06/2012 17:51

TheDoctorsWife46 LE14, you can't be that far from me. Anything I can help with?

Ohyoubadbadkitten Wind direction west (ish) to East (ish) very roughly.

coolkat · 28/06/2012 17:58

Hi Thedoctorswife, you are near me as well. Hope that you are ok. X

EekIsItUs · 28/06/2012 18:04

Oh it was wild wasn't it?!

It went so dark, then massive hailstones started falling, and sirens were going off everywhere.

Wish I'd have filmed it, I've never seen anything like it.

I opened my front door and a hailstone came in-I put pic on my profile.
Doubt its one of the biggest ones, but I wasn't going outside to get one Grin
They melted very fast out there.

Tinkerisdead · 28/06/2012 18:06

Coolkat werent you on my antental thread (nov 08)? I keep thinking i know i was meant to meet up with either ceebee or coolkat and couldnt remember who was who. I lived in nw leics before.

Thank you for offers of help. Landlords are coming tomorrow to sort the house and the car is booked in for repair. It looks like 50 golfers took a shot at it. Village is flooded.

My local Co op was flooded and closed for hours, my DSs friend has just come round her house flooded and they have lost everything downstairs Sad

GloriaSmud · 28/06/2012 21:20

LE3 signing in.
Some reports of damage ~ loads of cars have been damaged in the Burbage/Hinckley area. And one of DH's work colleagues got a call to go home (between Leicester/Melton) this afternoon, as hail stones had damaged his conservatory roof and his conservatory was flooded.

We missed the 2nd lot of torrential rain that seemed to have occurred for our area around 4.15pm. I was over Narborough way (about 5 miles SW from where we live) and we had a heavy rain shower with chunky rain drops for about 5 minutes. But when we got home, there'd obviously been something more than that as there was very wet ground and we seemed to have gained a 2nd pond!

Things seem to be a bit fresher now. Hoping for a quieter day weather-wise tomorrow!
