Not strictly weather but it does depend on clear skies. If you can see it should be pretty cool. Very easy to work out the timings - its at sunrise :) Will be best (weather permitting in SE) with around a 75% coverage.

how exciting!

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 29/12/2010 13:42

I've had a quick look at the charts and we might be able to see it. Sadly no really dominant high pressure sat over us but at least none that I can see are showing atlantic lows.

Oh thanks.
We saw a total one in SE Asia last year.

Amazing experience.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 29/12/2010 23:01

you lucky lucky person! would love to hear what it was like!

It was wonderful.
Far north of Bangladesh (my dh working there) on the roof of a guesthouse.

Surprised me how slowly it went dark, like a speeded up dusk. The birds twittering and going to roost en masse was amazing as was the roar of thousands of people who had gathered in a nearby stadium and who erupted when eclipse reached 100%.

Feel very privileged to have experiences it.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 30/12/2010 09:07

:) that sounds utterly awe inspiring!

At the moment GFS shows much rain about tuesday am! once again a case of the models not agreeing with each other as the ECM model shows much colder temps.

Don't forget to watch out at dawn tomorrow!

if your skies are cloudy you may get a chance to see it at this live feed

looks like for many of us it will be a bust I'm afraid :(

winterpetunia · 03/01/2011 20:44

My Dad e-mailed me a reminder about this earlier. He thought that even if it was cloudy it might get, "a bit like Eeyore's Gloomy Place!" (a bit of a Winnie-the-Pooh fan, is my Dad!)
I'll try and remember this tomorrow. Is there an exact time when it's happening?

winterpetunia · 03/01/2011 20:47

And I've just looked at that link you've given and it says 8.00-9.45. I really should pay attention, shouldn't I?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/01/2011 20:49

this is a pretty good link for timings and info too

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/01/2011 07:59

Miles too cloudy here but don't forget to check where you are!

abdnhiker · 04/01/2011 08:05

No sun here yet (north east Scotland and inthe hills) but I'm going to keep an eye out for it.

Hope everyone is remembering that you should never look at the sun without eye protection!! You're going to need proper solar glasses if you want to get any more than a glance and don't use a telescope or binoculars.

If you missed it (as we have - we've got no glasses Sad) Stargazing live will be showing it on their program tonight. BBC2 8pm.

Lots of cloud here. And snow on the ground Hmm

winterpetunia · 04/01/2011 08:50

Sky was a lovely colour about 1/2 an hour ago but it's now dull and cloudy. It's also snowing!
