Hi, I am meeting up with the family for a Christmas get together in Edinburgh this weekend. I am driving down from Inverness, whilst they are driving up from Manchester, in your honest opinion do you think we'll be able to do it? I've seen that snow is on it's way again.....

Well considering what happened last week on the M8, I would think carefully.

Kitten may come along later with a weather predication, but it may be too early in the week to tell for definate.

I know that's what I'm really worried about, the M8. I should have a better idea in a couple of days regarding the weather shouldn't I.

Yes I think it is a kind of wait and see game unfortunately at the moment.

if you had someone put you on the train and meet you, it would be alot less stressful.

well i have managed to take 4 dc's including a 5 month old baby, and clothes for a week on a 3 hour train journey to cornwall on my own. the older dc's both had a backpack to carry (they were 8 and 5 at the time) dd1 who was 18 months was on my back in a sling type thingy, and dd2 who was 5 months was in her car seat. all the clothing and bits i needed for the babies were on the pram. it was fine.

But I have some big bulky presents that just about fit into the boot of my car.

We have my mum and stepdad coming on Sat for early Xmas visit and meal -- just from Blairgowrie, but that is still far enough for problems. Bit worried about it, mum will be so upset if they can't get here!

I've had a good look at a few model outputs looking for some hope for you and from the early hours of thursday right through the weekend it looks pretty rubbish tbh. I hate to say it but I think it could be really difficult. What are your options for timings?

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 14/12/2010 11:24

early warnings and advisories
