BT problem areas - snow/ice

My ISP updates us with BT Openreach reports of "Matters Beyond Our Reasonable Control" - MBORC. Of course, that won't help people whose connection has failed, but it gives an idea of where there are major problems because of the weather:

"Further to our MBORC declaration yesterday, the areas which we listed remain severely affected by the weather, and remain subject to MBORC:

Highlands
North East Scotland
Tayside and Fife
South East Scotland
West Scotland
Newcastle and Northumberland
Tyneside, Durham and Wearside
Tees Valley
York
Bradford
Leeds
South Yorkshire/Chesterfield
Lincoln
Esher
Croydon
Crayford
Southbank
Tunbridge Wells

Following new snow falls and freezing temperatures, Openreach is now declaring a matter beyond our reasonable control (MBORC)/force majeure event in the following Openreach operational areas:

Derby
Nottingham
Canterbury
Brighton
Portsmouth
Southampton
Maidenhead

The declaration in respect of these new areas is effective from 14.00 today (Thursday 2 December 2010). It applies to all activities in the listed areas that are subject to MBORC."

I'm in Durham and my connection has been dodgy. I just assumed it was the weather, I think old lines especially can be affected by weather. Dh was trying to work from home the past couple of days and gettin greally annoyed by the uber slow internet. He works for BT

Here's today's list, with some new areas. I think my ISP likes passing on info like this to customers partly because they're quite geeky, but also it helps them at times like this - at the moment they're understaffed at their main base as it's in Sheffield and some staff can't get in to answer the helpdesk phones but can work from home if customers use the support section on their website.

I have had a naughty thought that this list might be useful for those wanting to avoid telephone calls - perfect and official reason for not answering the phone or pretending that the line was bad.
