from the met office. Heavy rain on Monday, mostly for the Mildlands southwards. Also one just been given out for heavy showers in Lincolnshire for this evening.

Rainfall radar is looking a bit scary now:

www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/pws/invent/weathermap/

I do like "interesting" weather, but I start getting a bit antsy waiting for it to actually reach here (Hampshire).

Niecie · 22/08/2010 19:06

I'm not worrying too much. I am also in Hampshire and watching the weather map of the showers on the BBC website, it should been pouring here since 1pm but we haven't had a drop yet.

Niecie · 22/08/2010 19:09

Pah! Just pressed post and it started raining (we have the patio door open so I could hear it rather than see it). BlushGrin

Still not what the weather tracking map thingy said though.

They tell such lies at the Met Office, I think they do it deliberately just to ruin my plans.

Today for example, prediction this morning- heavy rain followed by a period of light rain then more heavy rain. In fact- no rain just warm and sunny and day trip with children cancelled.

They hate me.

Niecie · 22/08/2010 19:26

That is a a shame Darcymum. I hate it when that happens.

Seems to me that the weather forecasts are getting less accurate rather than more accurate these days.

I am sure time will tell this evening whether they are right this time .

(and it has stopped raining here now)!

DidEinsteinsMum · 22/08/2010 19:38

oh crap. had planned to do something out doorsy with ds tomo on way home from collecting him. might have to rely on the old pinic in car merlarky instead. Sad

hugglymugly · 22/08/2010 19:45

What amuses (!) me is the BBC news website where sometimes the three-day forecast and the five-day forecast say different things.

And so often whatever weather is forecasted ends up going either to the north or the south of us. I think that's because my bit of Hampshire sticks up quite a bit so the weather goes either side of it, so to speak.

I think the Met Office tries too hard, and then look foolish when their forecasts don't materialise.

Still nothing much happening here.

orienteerer · 22/08/2010 21:04

Light drizzle here in SE, bring on the rain please. I spread grass seed today and didn't water as forecast said I would have a downpour...........still waiting.............

petunia · 22/08/2010 21:23

Updated warnings. Looks like it'll start raining about 1am (here in Leicester), getting really bad about 3-4am.

Still waiting in Wiltshire - raining a bit, but not much

Niecie · 23/08/2010 12:03

Well, it did rain last night but I don't think the severe weather warning was justified, not for us anyway. Still overcast and windy though nothing too out of the ordinary.

petunia · 23/08/2010 12:17

Nothing out of the ordinary for us either. Metoffice got the times about right (rain from 1am-ish and chucking it down from 4am) and the wind got up but it wasn't too bad.
