Potential thunderstorms and flash flooding today

lots of warnings for heavy rain, torrential at times

Not all weather models are quite so bullish, the gfs seems to show restricted convection and the lifted index maps are not very exciting.

However torro have issued a convective discussion which means they are interested in the possibilities for the day.

north wales looks particularly interesting in terms of flash flood potential and very high rainfall totals.

still looking interesting might be worth having a camera on stand by in case you spot any funnels

Thanks for that info - I love seeing funnels!

PS I love your name and your obsession with the weather.

OOOh, will keep an eye out here, but so far this week all the heavy stuff seems to have missed us, though lancashire and merseyside got it we never.....

thanks LostArt!

funny how it bends away from you Manky, its like there is an invisible shield. Not sure you'll even get that much rain!

I think we might avoid a downpour here. We had two minutes of spitting rain, now glorious sunshine. But I shouldn't speak too soon should I?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/07/2010 15:36

looking at the weather map, I would say not.
Interesting walk shortly after I posted - roads flooded to ankle deep right across. Quickly subsided though.

looks like some exceptionally heavy rain went through round the Wash area.

heavy showers moving se, petering out as they go through the night.

I knew it - it's been chucking it down for well over an hour now. We were lovely and wet walking home from school. I hope my tomato plants survive.
