Rain's been heavy here all day. It's lovely. My garden is happy.

Thunder bugs are out in force so have been anticipating a turn for the worse though.

Hassled · 12/07/2010 13:15

Thanks - to be honest we need it; it's been SO hot and dry here recently. The garden looks like I've had some scorched earth thing happening - no green grass at all.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/07/2010 13:20

We desperately need rain and as we are just back from camping I'd be very happy for it to start now!

Same here Hassled. DD has drawn a picture today and the grass is yellow and prickly. A fair representation. It's been so dry for weeks. Still, has been raining since the early hours so it's a start.

RabbitAndCo · 12/07/2010 13:23

Our lawn is yellow and my courgettes were wilting

All this rain is great

(Does anyone know if my lawn will come back to life, or is it properly dead if yellow?)

And where are the rest of you East Anglians?

Lenin, we all slept like stones. Didn't hear dh leave for work at 7am and dd and I woke at 9.15am. It's the first good night's sleep we've managed. And it smells lovely outside.

Rabbit, I'm a few miles from Norwich.

Heartsease · 12/07/2010 13:31

I'm an East Anglian and this thread title got all excited, I'd love a good downpour. Sadly on RainToday it looks like the clouds are set to bypass me Rain Today. Have quite enjoyed not mowing the grass (burnt stubble) though!

throckenholt · 12/07/2010 13:32

it has been raining all morning in Norwich - sadly my office is still hideously hot though !

Everything around is parched - and the harvest is looking very light this year - no rain to swell the corn.

Hassled · 12/07/2010 13:33

The only downside is those pesky snails. I'm obsessed with the bastards and their devious plant eating ways. Outside looks like Snail Central - I had to tip toe my way to the wheelie bin.

misdee · 12/07/2010 13:34

i want rain

HairyMaclary · 12/07/2010 13:36

Is it ever going to rain in the SE, preferably just outside SW London? Our allotment is struggling and DS has plaster casts on both legs and he's struggling too! It's cooler here today though, thank goodness.

ShowOfHands · 12/07/2010 13:37

Dd's playhouse is snail city. She loves it. I wish they'd bugger off and vacate the veg patch though.

DH works in Norwich too throckenholt. He's a pc so has spent days in body armour in the sweltering heat and now is splashing through puddles feeling soggy.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/07/2010 13:42

sorry heartsease.
hairy you might get some tomorrow.

mollymax · 12/07/2010 13:44

It is great to see the rain..but typical that it is today, our conservatory builders have had to stop work for the day.

Floopy21 · 12/07/2010 13:50

Tipping it down in framlingham!! Fingers crossed it's raining where I live too, my courgettes were

ShowOfHands · 12/07/2010 13:54

Heartsease, is that where you live? I'll make no comments about the place until you've confirmed or denied.

Heartsease · 12/07/2010 14:08

SoH, is where where I live? I definitely don't live in your DD's playhouse, though it may be more comfortably appointed than my house right now, snails or no .

throckenholt · 12/07/2010 14:11

it is only drizzling now.

SOH - was he on duty over the weekend when Norwich was the hottest place in the country (or at least in the forecast) ? I spent the weekend hiding indoors whinging about the heat !

4andnotout · 12/07/2010 14:15

No rain at all here in west Norfolk, cloudy and muggy though, I'm the opposite and love the dry heat although it was very hot shopping in Norwich on Saturday.

ShowOfHands · 12/07/2010 14:26

Heartsease- 'Heartsease' is a place in East Anglia! It's a few miles from me. And horrid. Used to think heartsease was a pretty flower, now I know it's a plethora of concrete buildings housing Norfolk's criminals.

throckenholt, he was at work on Saturday. On patrol in the city centre 8am-6pm. Was hideous apparently. Busy too (Lord Mayor's Procession I think?).

Heartsease · 12/07/2010 14:30

Oh! I never knew that. I thought of it as a good quaint English flower name and all along it had these connotations.

It's still just grey here (Cambs).

Alouiseg · 12/07/2010 14:31

North Essex had torrential rain this morning but leafed now, just very steamy.

Alouiseg · 12/07/2010 14:32

Leafed? I thought that I typed "cleared".

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/07/2010 15:28

lol at leafed!!!! funny how fingers do that sometimes.
