I feel I am getting to the end of breastfeeding my DS (15 months), particularly as we would like to try for another but BFing seems to be messing up my cycle.
I now only feed first thing in the morning and bedtime, he was night weaned totally for about 6 weeks and would happily have some water if he woke in the night.
However, this last month or so he has wanted to comfort nurse overnight and it has coincided with him ending up in bed with me when he won’t settle in the night. Sometimes it’s due to teething but other nights it seems completely random.
My poor nipples have had enough, they’re cracked and blistered.
Is it possible to encourage DS to comfort himself in an alternative way? I’ve tried a comforter but he’s not bothered.
If it’s just a phase I can suck it up but I’m worried I’m causing longer term problems by bringing him into bed with me when he won’t settle 🫣
