What freezes well for you?

Any good freezer ideas?

I’m really just winging things a bit. DD is 8 months. I keep making a freezing little pots of daal and she’s happy with those. I froze a baby hummus, which she liked fresh, and she hates it defrosted. Any ideas for something an easy as the daal to freeze that defrosts well too?

DD used to love quiche. In fact she still does! I still batch cook and freeze it in portions and she gets a slice out for packed lunch most days.

Spag Bol sauce from the baby led weaning cookbook is lovely frozen and defrosted

We also freeze portions of fish pie from that cookbook as well and they defrost really well. We freeze the fish pie topped with the mashed potato, remove from freezer and grate cheese on and oven cook from frozen.

Any sort of bolognaise/ragu - I do different versions with turkey mince/pork mince/beef mince/tinned lentils and loads of veg chopped small. Mac and cheese - I blend white beans and butternut squash into the sauce. Homemade pesto with spinach and crushed nuts for extra nutrition.

How are you both getting on @FunnyOrca?

Thank you, getting on ok. Can’t bring myself to throw out the frozen chickpeas 🤣

We have frozen savoury pancakes (made with gram flour) and egg strips (kind of like muffins but I didn’t have a muffin tray) thanks to this thread. They have gone down well!

That sounds like two good successes. And I totally understand making something and not wanting to throw it out but a can of chickpeas is what, 40p? Smile

I used to make quiche, or fish pie and freeze in individual portions. The rest of the time my sons ate what we did just mashed up
