Just had our first experience of bolognaise finger-food style, and DS LOVED it!!

Despite being impressed and intrigued by the BLW site and the BLWers on here I had always been fairly conservative with finger food before, i.e. keeping it to less messy food like sandwiches, omlettes etc, but today DS grabbed his bowl of spag bol, tipped it out over his tray and started eating it with his hands and I thought... why not?! And I have NEVER seen him enjoy a bolognaise so much!! It made a hell of a mess and my bib arrangements were woefully inadequate, but small price to pay I feel. So just wanted to encourage anyone else who's feeling a bit daunted by the finger food thing to just go for it and buy in loads of washing powder!!

oh LOLOL, he looks like he is having A Ball.

(and the ragu really brings out the colour of his eyes, v flattering )

PhDlifeNeedsaNewLife · 09/02/2008 13:40

lol, I've just fed ds yoghurt as finger-food. (dh APPALLED .) didn't work though - ds leaned over and attempted to suck it off the tray!

Jacksmybaby · 09/02/2008 18:06

Heehee PhD - yes my DH was appalled too! DS does the leaning over and slurping thing with the bath water in his bath . Today's finger food was chicken casserole and mashed potato - must say it made a bit less mess than the bright orange bolognaise sauce!

oh yes, drinking the bath water

ds's fave food is still prunes. they make a pretty spectacular mess but at least they clean up fairly well, unlike avocado...

AitchTwoOh · 09/02/2008 20:39

dd is 2. last night she drank bath water very delicately from a medicine spoon. she ingested some bubbles, spat them out, said 'disgusting' and stopped doing it.

tonight. a complete repeat performance, word for word, the little weirdo.

PhDlifeNeedsaNewLife · 09/02/2008 22:43

lol aitch, brilliant

say aitch, before you say "it's on my blog", I KNOW it's on your blog, but then so is everything (I reckon I could probably even learn how to programme my vcr from your blog ) -- but somewhere is there a digest of recipes so that us lazy arses a busy gal doesn't have to read through all the recipes to find one she might find time to cook likes?

just atm I am feeling like I really haven't a clue what I am doing, feeding ds, and it's making me a little (in between the mastitis and the mystery rash, that is).

or p'raps we could just have an e-chat about it sometime?

Aitch · 10/02/2008 10:25

course we can. pm me through the forum, and indeed you can see a big list of recipes on the recipes section of the BLW forum. the ones on the blog are on the new site, which isn't yet ready to go live. soon, though...

LittleBottle · 10/02/2008 20:33

PHD, my DS (6mo) tried to suck houmous off his tray this afternoon, the foolish child

callmeovercautious · 10/02/2008 20:38

Spag Bol requires nakedness and a floor covering of some type. Cheapo plastic table cloths are good.

Ditto for Spag carbonnara, weetabix, baked beans and any other type of runny food.

Thank goodness DD has mastered a spoon

I will not be buying bibs in future, you can wash them down afterwards imo.
