Accidentally gave my baby out of date yoghurt :(

I just gave my baby a yoghurt from the fridge and after she had eaten it I realised it was just under a month out of date :(((( will she be ok? I feel awful. It was only a baby yoghurt and I couldn't see anything wrong with it.

Just when I couldn't get her to have the last spoon I had it and then thought it tasted a bit weird!! Argh what do I do?

Not much you can do except hope she'll be ok. Just look out for signs of an upset tummy (which may not even happen)

JiltedJohnsJulie · 19/03/2018 11:51

How is she now Frozen?

FrozenMargarita17 · 19/03/2018 12:40

Doesn't seem to have any ill effects I'm glad to say!! She didn't sleep very well but that is entirely normal for her !

Glad she’s ok. Mine have eaten various dubious things over the years and lived to tell tiphe tale Smile

Mrscog · 19/03/2018 16:53

Yoghurt is fine weeks and weeks beyond the use by if it’s been stored in the fridge - the dates the shops put on are almost immoral.

childmindingmumof3 · 19/03/2018 16:54

If yoghurt looks/smells/tastes fine then it's fine.

GladAllOver · 19/03/2018 16:56

If it was off it would have tasted bitter and she wouldn't have eaten it :)

FrozenMargarita17 · 19/03/2018 17:14

Thank you everyone. I am usually not too worried about use by dates (especially for myself) but was worried because she's so small and it was dairy! I didn't want her to be really sick and am really glad she wasn't.

The lids on yoghurts usually get blown if it is off, so I'm sure it is fine

CoCoCoconut · 20/03/2018 17:18

Hi Margarita, I'm glad your dd didn't get sick Smile. Now that she seems to be in the clear, and not meaning to be at all disrespectful about your concern which was understandable when she's so little, I thought you might appreciate a laugh.

Your thread title reminded me of this skit from Catherine Tate Grin

FrozenMargarita17 · 20/03/2018 22:26

@CoCoCoconut I couldn't get the sound to work but definitely not offended haha !

It's yoghurt - it's basically out of date before you even buy it!

I did something similar, DS was also fine Smile

I love the way they back away singing Jerusalem! Grin
