Hi All
Weaning had been going well, but now it's not, it's just not.
A bit over three weeks ago I stopped BFing my 10mth old and changed to bottle, pretty much straight away she was ill - chesty, sores ears, snotty nose etc and was put on anti-biotics so I put down any lack of interest in food to being ill. However, now that she is better (albeit still a bit snotty) she is still off her food and doesn't drink much milk either. Earlier this week she did have S&D which I know would have been another cause, but she is over that now and still has little interest.
I feel like I've tried everything. She had been on lumps but I've tried going back to puree, Ella's, mixing everything with yoghurt (her favourite). Still it's a battle. I am pretty sure that she must be hungry and thirsty. I don't know if it's a battle of wills, she is teething (although she has 2 teeth and they gave her no trouble whatsoever, and there doesn't seem to be signs of others coming through), she is still feeling unwell or what.
I sing to her, give her a toy, give her a spoon, try finger food, play her music, smile and giggle with her and all these methods will work for a couple of spoonfuls and then she starts pushing the spoon away again. I have to admit that I lost my temper, it's the first time I've ever shouted at her, and oh my goodness do I feel bad about that. I'm concerned that my frustration is rubbing off on her. My hubby is very good and will take over when he sees me struggling. The only sure thing she will eat is a bread stick or a baby biscuit. Yoghurt used to be a guaranteed hit but not so much anymore.
Obviously, as I was BFing I don't know what her milk intake was but now she will only have 9oz in TOTAL throughout the day and her fontanella is a little dipped, sometimes quite dipped. I can't remember what her 'normal' is as I didn't check it before having these problems.
She started nursery 4 mornings a week 5 weeks ago. She is up and down with eating there, but again did seem to have conquered eating there until recently.
She has followed the 9% weight line since the second week she was born, but is now heading towards the 2% line. HVs all give different advice.
I am so concerned. I don't want to her to become malnourished, lose weight, nor become a picky eater later in life. All the other babies I know love their food.
Can someone please tell me the secret!!!!!
Sorry for the rambling, hope it makes a little sense
