To anyone considering buying one of those Tommee Tippee stick-the-plate-to-the-table things...

....don't bother.
I've just wasted a fiver on it (took dd thirty seconds once my back was turned to frisbee her spag bol onto the curtains) and when i bitterly mentioned this on my blog i had five or six people comment that their children had easily defeated them as well. (one woman enjoys booby-trapping her husband's plate with it, but her child can tackle it no problem).

so there you go, i just saved you a fiver. grrrrrrrrrrrr

Mum2funkyDude, don't get that plate and cutlery set, it is rubbish! They can't even get the fork/spoon to their mouths! I threw the cutlery away 2 days after buying.

CorpseBride · 19/10/2006 22:18

LOL to hear that these are still rubbish (I had one about 4 years ago).

I also had a clown toy that you could twist and click etc which had a sucker on the bottom - DD1 pulled it straight off the table and clouted herself in the face with it. I should have bloody sued

I bought a lovely thingy from mothercare with a sucker on it and rabbits that spin round. Ds yanked that off in seconds and whacked himself between the eyes! I now spend hours holding the bloody thing while he spins the rabbits.

Thanks for saving me from buying the "Not so stay-put" set. So which one of us will come up with an ingenious idea first?

The problem not being the plate sliding around, the problem being that the food, or sometimes the plate, needs to be rubbed behind the right ear first and then put into mouth.

how about one of those funnel things vets put on dogs necks to stop them scratching their ears! ha ha, only joking!

Mum2FunkyDude · 20/10/2006 19:26

FunkyDude might just like it too much, he unfortunately is always up for a challenge.

Maybe a rubber mat with a moulded bowl on top that clips onto the high chair tray.

Maybe the heaviest ceramic bowl I can make, weighing it down sounds better. Although it'll need to be shatterproof, because with my luck FunkyDude might only use it to strengthen his muscle an then one day throw it at me!

cryptmonkey · 20/10/2006 22:18

Mum2FunkyDude, does FunkyDude have the little Next shirt with Funky Little Dude on the front? Had to ask!

Mum2FunkyDude · 23/10/2006 10:17

Yes, a funky dude T-shirt bought on a trip to South Africa, but then again he is kind of funky!

nappyaddict · 05/11/2006 22:24

anyone got the highchair toys from mamas and papas. would i be being far too optimistic to hope that they stay put? someone further down mentioned that the TT one works when lo sits at the proper table not in a high chair. can anyone else vouch for this?
