loves milk but not too fond of solids

I've just started weaning my little girl of 5 months. She's eaten rice, pear, apple and carrot. She tolerates sweeter foods but hated her 2 carrot meals! My problem is that she loves her milk so much that she won't touch solids unless she's drained her bottle and then she's full so will start to spit out solids when she's had enough. I've tried half bottle then solids, even most of the bottle then solids but she won't have it.
Any tips from others with similar babies? Is it simply a case of persevering and putting up with this for now?
Cheers

Try offering the solids midway between milk feed times. Or why not try making her milk feed up in 2 bottles, half each, so she doesn't see the other half. Then you could offer the 2nd bottle after the solids.
