Over heard conversation in Asda today re: jars

jmum6 · 12/04/2006 16:40

Was in Asda buying follow on milk when 2 women came looking at the baby food.

'Really can't be doing with cooking for him' says one woman.

'No' says the other 'what a waste of time.'

Didn't know whether to laugh or cry. :o

People who say "Well if I can do it, anyone can" are, in my experience, not telling the whole story, re how much they actually work.
Or what extra help they might have.
Or how much money they've got, etc etc.

So feck 'em.

jmum6 · 13/04/2006 13:42

Blimy is this still going? Which i'd never posted it now.

pmsl at the weaving lentils though :o

Enid I think that youre off hand comments re. child abuse are irresponsable to say the least. My brother is currently in court at the mo giving evidence about a dad who has been pimping his daughter to buy smack, he works on a child protection team. Youre comments have made my blood boil. you need to get out in the real world girl and see what some innocent children have to go through.

Mumsnet provides a life line to some people and the more judgemntal types ought to think about how their comments may affect others. I would hate people to feel that they could not post on here because people parading themselves as 'perfect mummies' would jump on them like a ton of bricks

rant over

pinkmagic1 · 13/04/2006 13:48

Havn't got time to read the whole thread, but seems to be as bad as them breast V bottle debates you see on here sometimes. Does it really matter if you use jars or cook yourself as long as you and your child are happy?

booge · 13/04/2006 13:52

Blimey, who'd have thought jars could be so contentious. Personally I'd have Hannibal Karmel up against the wall for making feeding you baby seem like such hard work.

DS has jars, finger foods and homemade and some days I definately "can't be doing with cooking".

oliveoil · 13/04/2006 13:54

Enid will be laughing hysterically at you all whilst eating chocolate and resting her soon to burst pregnant bump.

No need to go mad with your sob stories, I am sure that she was just stirring.

Nikkinoo · 13/04/2006 13:56

Not sob stories oliveoil.

Stupid soments re. child abuse are contentious

Heathcliffscathy · 13/04/2006 16:04

like you really think she was comparing the two...i think it's a tad disingenuous to suggest you do tbh.

marthamoo · 13/04/2006 16:06

Still waitng for McD's and BK to get back to me re my junk food in jars baby food idea...

It could be called BabyMac...

jmum6 · 13/04/2006 17:08

Donimoes pizza could do pizza in finger food sized portions then if you get a meat feast with extra cheese and tomato then that would just about cover all your main food groups :o

see what you started jmum? And you were buying follow on milk. Grin

Your subscription to lentil weaving and yoghurt knitting classes has been terminated.

jmum6 · 13/04/2006 17:16

Oh no - really rather fancied the weaved lentils, thought they might have lent that extra texture to my cassaroles Wink

OP posts:
intergalacticwalrus · 13/04/2006 17:18

It's ok, you can redeem yourself by knitting your own mooncup

jmum6 · 13/04/2006 17:19

Hmmmm would have to be watertight wool, must have some lying around somewhere...

Anyways it's ok because the Pikey thread has taken over instead :o

OP posts:
dinosaure · 13/04/2006 17:20

Anyway, it's woven, not weaved.

intergalacticwalrus · 13/04/2006 17:20

Lol. It's certainly taken the heat off!

Now go and find that waterproof wool and get knitting, woman

jmum6 · 13/04/2006 17:23

Dinosaure - You're right I stand corrected! Am now knitting as we type...

dinosaure · 13/04/2006 17:23

I thought it was time we had a bit of pedantry on this thread Grin!

flutterbee · 13/04/2006 18:39

PMSL @ this thread.

I can't wait to ring my Mum who has weaned all 7 of her children with powdered food and tell her that she is a child abuser. Without doubt my Mum is the most unlazy person you could meet. She loves cooking and moved us all on to home cooked food as soon as we were past the weaning stage but still obviously is a child abuser.

I would also like to pount out that all of her children (eldest 35 youngest 14) are very intelligent and healthy although I am horribly over weight but that is more to do with my love of chocolate and crisps than the abuse I suffered when I was weaned Grin

flutterbee · 13/04/2006 18:40

point not pount

Twiglett · 13/04/2006 18:42
Nikkinoo · 13/04/2006 18:48

Sophable was that comment directed at me?

Cam · 13/04/2006 18:54

OMG, another full moon thread

Jars = satanic child abuse Shock

Thank god I gave dd French jars when as a baby on holiday in France, must explain why she's so slim and healthy (thanks for that info Rhubarb)Grin

VeniVidiVickiQV · 13/04/2006 18:57

Agree pruni. I wonder the same myself.
