bermudaotter · 09/05/2011 17:39

Popped in my local co-op today and a 900gm tub of toddler follow on milk has increased from £7.30 to £9.40 !!

First of all i thought it was a mistake but soke to co-op customer care and they said its correct. The rrp is now £9.40 ...............i didn't think they 'd stop so low as to profiteer out of baby milk.
Shocking price increase and the co-op said other supermarkets will follow.

Anybody heard anything about this ?

yes, do explain 'mentality'

bermudaotter · 10/05/2011 10:07

For info ,my little girl has severe excema and can't take many dairy products yet, formula milk helps in this respect.

There,s plenty if mums who can't afford Internet access let alone the big hike in formula milk .,what about them ? Dont they count ?
Some of you people want to step outside if your plastic bubbles and think if others less fortunate.

Ahhahahahahaha! How DARE a company make money from selling a product?

They should be selling it at cost and distribute it out of the goodness of their hearts, obviuosly Hmm

If your dd has eczema it might be better to get a prescription dairy free or hypoallergenic formula from your GP, then it will be free.

Normal formula is made from skimmed cow's milk.

bermudaotter · 10/05/2011 10:13

This thread was started by me to highlight the increasing cost of SMS milk .
Bar a couple of useful and informative replies all I,ve encountered is patronising ,Ill informed garden fence chit chat . It's truly pathetic

yup, that's me

Hmm

i apologised for my 1st post being patronising to you bermuda but i still stand with my point of view.

we have different points of view, but one of us has slipped to the depths of personal insults.

ShowOfHands · 10/05/2011 10:26

bermudaotter, are you new to MN? Genuine question.

Because MN and its members have consistently shown time and again how deeply they care about issues affecting them. Sadly, people are responding to your tone and not to the true issue (something we're very aware of). Can I politely suggest you draw a line under this thread and perhaps start another one without the antagonism?

suwoo · 10/05/2011 10:39

Bermuda, you are clearly no MN regular, you know not of what you speak.

Here have this...

silverfrog · 10/05/2011 10:47

agree with Rita.

if your dd has issues with dairy, then the last thing you want ot be giving her is, er, more dairy (and exorbitantly priced dairy at that)

try to get the hypoallergenic formula (what age is your dd?) or investigate dairy alternatives.

it may be helpful to you to know that there have been studies doen into the amount of calcium we need, and the results have been interesting to say the least - much, much less than previously thought (have htis on good authority from an allergy specialist), so try not to worry too much about calcium levels etc - it is possible to get all you need on a dairy free diet

bustersmummy · 10/05/2011 10:49

I agree with Silverfrog and Rita.

My DD1 was dairy intolerant (along with loads of other stuff - nightmare) and we got hydrolysed formula on prescription from the GP so it didn't cost us anything.

Oi. I see you. There are very few people who would greet me in such a way. But worry not, I will pretend you were never here.
