I never had this problem with my daughter but my son(almost 8 months) who I have been BLW since he was 6months doesn't seem to be taking well to the finger foods at all. He chews toast/omelette/veg etc and then 7/10 times you think he has swallowed it but when you go to look he has it stuck to the roof of his mouth. Sometimes it distresses him and other times he seems to be happy to let it stay there till you retrieve it
which is normally when you go to give him a breastfeed and discover it there. I tried giving him water to drink after a meal to wash it down but that didn't work.
Whenever I hand him a spoon and give him mushier foods ie shepherds pie/thick soup/stews/mash/porridge he loves the food and eats loads but he doesn't do so well with more solid foods.
I am starting to think I should just spoon feed him for now. It is so disheartening as my daughter was a text book BLW baby and I never had to mash anything or spoon it in but my son seems much lazier and seems to prefer it when I help him get the spoon to his mouth and give him mush
Has anybody else had this problem? I do wonder if he has a bit of tongue tie as he never sticks his tongue out of his mouth but surely he would have problems with breastfeeding?
Anyone got any ideas?
